Description: A design to illustrate my skills in photoshop
and to display a message that I feel is important.
Design Process: I began this process by taking a picture of
an alpine lake with my Olympus point and shot camera. It was a
rather large image. I inserted an image of a phone as well as a hiker
on a cell phone. on both of the inserted images I created a mask
so that I could blend in the images to my background. I removed
the screen of the cell phone illustrate that the phones screen misses
out on so much. Each line of text is its own body. Te text was
rasterize and the less important words were blended more into the
background.
Objective: Te message that I wanted to come across has
a dual meaning. First that when doing something that does not
require a cell phone do not pull it out. Second that maybe there
is a lot more to life and human interaction than staring at a 23.5
screen.

Description: Tree logos designed for a company called Te
CAP; to illustrate design skills in illustrator.
Design Process: I used Adobe Illustrator to create these
logos. I created the logo using my initials Cord Austin Porter.
Tey spell CAP so I wanted to create a simple logo that would
play of of the image of a baseball cap as well as the word cap as a
limit. I used the shape tool to create the triangles. Te arc shape to
create, well the arcs, and then I would mirror the arcs vertically. I
coloration in the frst logo was actually an accident but held to my
mountain or A style. I lef plenty of space for text to go around the
object or within so that it could be more easily manipulated. I am
really only satisfed with the middle logo.
Objective: Te message was to illustrate a hat, my initials, as well
as top, limit, or cap. Adventure may fall in there ;). Te logo should show
that the company is adventure based.
Details: Adobe Illustrator; Company Logo for Cord Austin
Porter, an adventure company.

Description: Custom made logos on letterhead.
Design Process: Tis was a very long process with many
variations to the logo. I knew I wanted to utilize my initials
C.A.P. in such a way that would be clean, original, and efective. I
started with the letters as text but converted them into objects to
manipulate. I tried various confgurations, originally the A being
the largest letter, but soon found that the letter A is exclusive while
the C is inclusive. I wanted to have the A take on a mountainous
form and I did this by dragging the object C up from the bottom
with dark blue fll. I placed behind it a white object to give the
contrast and illusion of snow. I adjusted the border of the C to
give the snow a jagged line. I combined them all together and
placed them on the contrasting background of orange using
complementary colors. I created simple orange bars to carry the
orange to both sides of the card and onto the letterhead.
Objective: My company is an outdoor adventure company,
playing on the word made by my initials; CAP. Cap referring to
limits.
Details: Adobe InDesign; Adobe Illustrator, Te CAP

Description: A bi-fold brochure for a tire company.
Design Process: I originally started with a photo of a tire
track in the sand. I created a red mask in photoshop to overlay the
sand. I revealed the image slightly by making the center brighter
than the edges. I then imported the image into InDesign. Tis
would end in the black center bar. Te black bars are to be similar
to tire marks. I created the logo in Adobe Illustrator using basic
shapes. I created guids on the design so that the tire on the front
cover would align with the tire on the inside. I applied paragraph
styles by using the paragraph tool.
Objective: To illustrate my skills in the Adobe design
programs and to create a functional brochure for a company.

Description: A black and white promotional fier for a
Graduate Leadership Conference.
Design Process: To Create this fier I frst sketched several
diferent designs. I narrowed the design down to one based of of
peoples responses to my sketches. I used Adobe InDesign to create
the fier. I used a solid black, stepped, line in two diferent places to
create repetition and fow. Leadership in the title is the focal point.
I wanted to keep it simple and feel that I did by allowing a fair
amount of white space to be present.
Objective: I was trying to reach proactive graduates that want
to get ahead of other graduates just entering the job market.

Description: Tis is a full bleed design based of of a scan of
an article of clothing. It is for a charity event.
Design Process: I wanted to do an ad for Klim but did not
fnd any suitable images. I scanned my jacket instead. I found that
my scanner was set to a much higher resolution than expected. My
sketches really did not apply by the time all of the critiquing was
done by over half-a-dozen diferent people. I found the title to be
the most difcult part of this project. It was hard to get it stand out
without detracting from the overall look of the design.
Objective: My message is that Klim cares about the
community and that there are children in need of quality
outerwear. I was trying to reach people in the recreation world.
Specifcally in the powersports industry.

Description: Tis is an example of my frst webpage
showcasing a logo I designed also my knowledge and skills of
HTML and CSS.
Design Process: My project started with a template
essentially both the HTML and the CSS. I used Text Wrangler to
edit both of them in order to get my website the way that I like. I
inserted a logo that I had previously designed using Illustrator. I
learned how to change fonts, colors, line thicknesses, backgrounds,
and other aspects of HTML and CSS.
Objective: Tat CAP is your company to go to for extreme
adventures. However it is not meant to be frivolous, immature, or
out of control.

Description: Tis demonstrates skills gained from Comm
130 in photography and Adobe Photoshop. An assignment for 130.
Design Process: I took the photo using an Olympus point
and shoot camera. I edited the photo in photoshop. I wanted to
create a cool look illustrating progress and end goal in mind. I
shifed the levels of light more toward the center but still wanted
to keep the sun extremely bright and stark. I sampled colors from
the sky for the wording and created my swatches from the lef
side of the sky. I wanted to repeat the tracks both physically and
metaphorically with the text.
Objective: My message is that it requires steps to progress.
One turn of the wheel, one paddle in the sand, going from dark to
light. I was focused on those with a religious background as well
as those that have an afnity for the outdoors and motorsports. In
other words I was the audience. ;)
