Types of seal
Injection pumps for Scania diesel engines are
fitted with a bonding seal after they have been
inspected and adjusted prior to delivery. Seals
are placed at locations where tampering would
affect engine power, exhaust composition and
fuel consumption.
Note: Scanias warranty commitments are ren-
dered void if unauthorised work is carried
out on the injection pump.
The following seals are fitted to the injection
pump:
The pump manufacturers seal fitted prior to
supply to the Scania factory.
1 Lead seal
2 Metal sleeve with plastic plug
3 Seal sleeve of black plastic (Bosch service
= red seal sleeve)
4 Plastic plug, black (Bosch service = red
plastic plug)
5 Plastic seal, black (Bosch service = red
plastic seal)

After inspection and any adjustments are
made at the Scania factory, some of the man-
ufacturers seals are replaced with Scania
seals:

7 Plastic plug of blue plastic
8 Plastic seal, blue

Pump element nut, right side. Sealed with
wire and lead seal/metal tag seal.
Seal No. 2:
Governor cover, left side:

Seal No. 4:
Setting solenoid upper cover.

Pump with RQ/RQV governor
Seal No. 6:
Pump element nut, right side. Sealed with
wire and lead seal/metal tag seal.
Seal No. 7:
Full speed stop sealed with plastic seal sleeve
on the set screw locknut.
Note: The full speed stop is on the other side on
11 engines.
Seal No. 8:
Smoke limiter adjustment and smoke limiter
cover. Sealed with metal sleeve with plastic
plug/ sealing wire and metal tag washer.
