Other

My fifth question was asking my participants whether they has any future plans
and what were they , due to my results all of them plan to go university and
graduate which shows they have thought about their future carefully.

6. My sixth question was asking what my participants thought about teenage

driving as whole and whether there should be any changes e.g. age of driving
should be higher. And here are some of the responses I got back:

I believe the age right now is fine, but it does depend on the person’s
maturity. The way I’ve seen some people on the road that don't
deserve to be.
I think teenagers should start driving with the age of 20, that’s when
hopefully all teenagers are familiar with the dangers of driving.

I think the age boundary should be around 20

I think as time goes by too many accidents have happened so the age
restriction should be higher

The responses I got back from this question all believe that age of learning how
to drive should be 20 or higher due to many accidents caused by drinking and
driving but some disagree and thought the age was fine but it’s all based on
individual differences as everybody isn’t the same when it comes to driving.

Transportation

7.
I drive myself/ got my ow n car

I drive myself/ drive my parents

car
Parents drive me to school/w ork

I don't drive at all

My seventh question was about how my participants got to school or work and
whether they drove a car or not. My results show me that most of participants
don’t drive at all as well as some are dropped off by the parents to school/ work
leaving only one person with a car.

How often do you watch a documenatry?

8.

Once in a Year
Once in a Month
Once in a Week
More than a Week
Never

My eighth
question
was looking at how often my participants watched a documentary and my
results show that the majority watches a documentary once in a month
followed by once in a week then more than a week and never. So this also
shows that my participants are already familiar with documentaries and the
different contents it has as well as the necessary things such as a presenter,
music and a good topic.
9. My ninth question was asking my participants, the last time they watched a
documentary and what was the topic about. Here are the responses:

Tupac and how he generated music hip hop in his own way

I watched Katie: My Beautiful Face on Channel 4 on the 29th October.

It was about an aspiring model and TV presenter, Katie who due to
unfortunate circumstances had acid thrown in her face. She tells her
story about her new life and her new face.

I watched it about a month ago and it was about tupacs life in music
and the events before his death

Last one I watched was about the model that got spilled acid on her
face...on channel 2

The family which was about the life of a family, how they act, what
they do etc.

My responses show me that my participants have watched interesting

documentaries which are based on popular people like Tupac and he generated
HIP HOP music as well as a model named Katie who had acid spilled on her
face.

This graph shows that the most important conventions in a documentary to my

participants is having a Interesting Topic, Good Music, the style has to be good
as well as the role of the presenter and what he/she adds to the documentary
and other including Good Features.

12.
Things that put you off a Documentary?

Topic is boring

Music is Out of date

Not enough of facts and figures

Presenter is not funny

The whole thing does not make

sense
other

Looking at this chart you can see that the thing that puts my participants off
watching a documentary is the Topic followed by whether the whole makes
sense and so on. So this means that the topic must be interesting otherwise my
participants won’t be interested as well as the whole documentary making
sense because if does not flow then my participants would not enjoy it and
therefore wouldInterested

interested in watching a documentary based on Teenage Driving. The results

showed that the majority said yes whilst some said No meaning that there is
some 6potential for me to make a documentary based on Teenage Driving.

14. My fourteenth question was asking my participants opinions on Teenage
Driving as a whole. Here are some of the responses:

My opinion on teenage driving is quiet strong as I believe that a

stereotype has been created; that teenagers are unsafe drivers. This
links a lot with drink driving as well. Also, many teenagers today don’t
care about other people’s safety by driving too fast. However, every
teenager is different as we are all individuals. However, by making a
documentary, it will be quiet challenging as it might not cover all the
issues to do with teenage driving. The media generalises too much
and do not show everything which is biased and unfair, but that’s how
the media works.

It should be judged on level of maturity as well as driving ability

I think that it is a good thing that teenagers are allowed to drive as it

is gives freedom and it can be Convenient

Sadly too many teenagers cause accidents and that is a big problem
these days, so I personally don’t think much of teenage driving.

Some teens are immature but otherwise its OK

These responses are really good especially the first one which is in the most
detail, I think my participants think that teenage driving is unsafe and most
accidents are caused by teenagers but some argue that driving when your are
a teenager gives you freedom and can be useful to you if are someone who
tends to go out a lot but the main thing that participants think that teenage
driving is unsafe and it’s become a trend for teenagers to drive because their
friends are doing it.

15. My fifteenth question was asking what features does participant would like
to see in a Teenage Driving Documentary. Here are five chosen responses:
I would like to see, the reasons to why teenagers today need to feel
they need to make a big show out of driving. There are so many
deaths involved which are on news all the time. This may sound
pessimistic, but I think it’s about time the truth needs to be heard
which is reality.

The danger of driving and how it has increased

THE INFLUENCE OF DRIVING

What percentage of teenagers drive illegally etc

I would like to see how you could make the teenagers get more
responsibility when it comes to driving.

Comparing all my responses together I think a lot my participant want to see

the danger’s of Teenage Driving how it’s influenced as well as making it better
so that Teenagers drive more responsibly.

Overall

• I will make my documentary focus on the dangers of teenage driving as

well as include the influence of teenage driving.

• I will make sure that I use actors with in of the age 17-24 so that my idea
is executed in a more realistic way.

• I will include a bad experience of drinking and driving so that I cover

those dangers of teenage driving as well as show the immaturity of being
a teenager and driving.

• I will make sure that I include the following conventions: good music,
presenter who is informal, interesting topic, extra features such as
reconstructions showing real life events and so on.

• Finally I will make sure that my Documentary is put together in a

successful and does make good sense to those who are viewing it.
