Project #1: Determine the effect of probiotic Bifidobacterium animalis subsp.
lactis (BB-12) consumption on human peripheral immune function in a
randomized, 4-period cross-over free-living human study (ongoing).
Project #2: Determine the effect of probiotic BB-12 consumption on antigen-
specific immune function in response to influenza vaccination using murine
models (ongoing).
Project #3: Study the mechanisms on how changes in energy balance (obesity
and physical activity) may alter macronutrient uptake and metabolism in T
lymphocytes. The study uses both human and murine models (completed).

Project #1: Administered obesity interventions to primary school students in
a nutritional epidemiology study on childhood obesity.
Project #2: Helped doctors perform ultrasound diagnosis in thyroid of 100
human subjects in a nutritional study assessing the feasibility of policies
related to dietary iodine content and prevention in thyroid problems among
primary school students in areas with high dietary iodine content.

Project #3: Instructed human subjects to complete dietary questionnaires in a
nutritional study exploring the relationship between high dietary iodine
content and high incidence in Budd-Chiari Syndrome.
