Brochure
Description: To create a full-color, duplex folding
brochure about a topic.
Programs used: Adobe InDesign,Adobe Illustrator, and
Adobe Photoshop,
Date: July 12, 2014
Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The purpose of the brochure I made was to
inform readers of the upcoming Call of Duty game and
more information on it. It was meant to persuasive,
informative, and entertaining.
Process: First, I set up my document to three evenly
spaced areas so I could create a tri-fold. I wanted the
brochure to have a majority of photos. I flled strokes
around some of the text to make it stand out more. For
the image of the gunman on the font cover, I used the
quick selection tool in Adobe Photoshop to remove
the background of the image. I created the logo in
illustrator by playing around with the anchor tools in
the font and using the pathfnder tool, I split some of
the text blocks to make it have more space between the
letters to look as authentic as possible.
Evnt Ad
Description: I made this event ad because I took this
picture last demolition derby I went to. I loved it
and always thought it would make for a great fyer. I
made the fyer to try and persuade people to come to
this event and donate money to help raise money for
cancer research.
Programs used: Microsoft Word
Date: May 17, 2014
Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The main objective is to design a color fier
to promote a beneft event. I also needed to scan the
photo I was going to use correctly.
Process: I wanted the image to fll the whole ad to
draw in the audience. I used Demolition Derby as the
main title but made it more opaque so the image still
shows through. I also added a subtitle, Crashing Cars
for Cancer, to help show that it was to raise money for
cancer. I added a white inner glow around the words to
help make it stand out. I wanted to have the body copy
white and on the log because I loved the look. I placed
the body copy on the log and rotated it to match the
same lines and direction on the log.
Photo Design
Description: To create a full-bleed, 8.5 by 11,
photodesign that includes an original, new quality
image, a consistent color scheme based on that image,
some text, and a few design elements.
Programs used: Adobe Photoshop
Date: May 24, 2014
Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The main objective was to learn basic
photography and editing skills. Another objective was
choosing a color scheme and incorprating the colors
throughout the layout using design elements.
Process: I took this photo with a canon 60d at one
of my favorite places. I love the quote, Not all who
wander are lost. I wanted to create a tribal design.
I used a split complimentary color scheme because
I really loved the gold contrasting with indigo. I
photoshopped her skirt to a darker blue so that I could
use the indigo. I created diferent triangle shapes. I
hand drew one of the arrows and mirrored it to the
other side. I liked having the diferent triangles for
repetition and to showcase what colors I used. I added
a brick rectangle down the right side of the image.
Logo
Description: To create three completely diferent
variations of logos for a company and to research what
logo would be the best ft for the company.
Programs used: Adobe Illustrator
Date: June 7, 2014
Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The main objective was to create three
completely diferent, orignial logos only using Adobe
Illustrator. I wanted people to be interested in learning
more about Ocean Studios.
Process: Using an anchor image as my inspiration, I
created diferent shapes. I then used the pathfnder
tool to eliminate what was not part of my anchor.
I used mostly trianlges for the second shape and
adjusted the anchor points to create the sails and fag.
I used ellipse, rectangle, and the pen tool to create the
bottom logo. I found fonts that I liked and added them
to the logos. For some of the text, I created a line to add
the text along the line. I also choose naudical colors to
ft my theme and feeling for the company.
Letterhead
Description: To design a new logo to ft the company
image for a letterhead and business cards.
Programs used: Adobe Illustrator
Date: June 14, 2014
Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The main objective was to create a visually
appealing letterhead with the company name and
contact information with an original logo. I wanted
brand, Foxy Five Catering, with a fun, youthful fox
logo. I wanted it look more handmade rather than
computer operated.
Process: I created the fox logo using shapes and the
pen tool in illustrator while researching fox photos
to make it resemble a fox accurately. I used the
pathfnder to combine shapes and to place things in
front and behind. I also copied diferent shapes and
made them diferent colors to add the accent to the fur.
I placed the logo in indesign and added the logo. I also
used the line tool to create the diamond border. I found
a marble texture and added it behind the logo and text
with a 70% opacity.

claw shapes. I added in the marble texture behind.
Website
Description: Using HTML and CSS, I created this
website to showcase my personally created logo for my
company.
Programs used: Text Wrangler, Photoshp, Google Fonts
Date: June 14, 2014
Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The main objective was to design a web page
using HTML and CSS accurately to display the logo and
content using Text Wrangler. Another objective is to
size and optimize an orignial logo for a web page with
specifc sizes.
Process: Using HTML and CSS and saving often to see
how my website was changing, I created the website.
After I changed it all into my own writing and inserted
my image, I attached a pre-made CSS document to
my HTML. I then used the colors from my logo as
the colors for my web page. I found these colors by
opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I
downloaded and embedded the fonts, Dancing Script
and Special Elite, using google fonts. I added diferent
fonts in case the fonts couldnt display correctly. I also
used diferent alignment and padding to make it ft.
Flier

Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The main objective was to design a fyer
and incorporate Indesign basic skills to improve basic
fier layout. Another objective was using the design
principles and appropriate typography.
Process: I placed the image to fll the background. I
then applied a gradient leading at a 90 degree angle
point downward so it gets lighter from the top to the
bottom. I then took another gradient and put it on the
bottom right so that I could add text there. I loved the
books and the natural box where I put the title. Its
of set creates diagonal fow throughout the design
to other words. I liked the use of white space on the
macbook so I used it to add my date, time, and place,
and registration info with the website.I fnally created
a more transparent box to add the body copy text.
Photo Montage
Description: I made a montage made with the blending
of four diferent images inspired by Paris and a movie
poster, Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Programs used: Adobe Photoshop
Date: May 31, 2014
Course number and section: Comm 130-03
Instructor name: Cory Kerr
Objective: The main objective was to blend images
together gradually to become one. I needed to make
a consistent layout with a dominant message. I also
needed to use masks.
Process: I found a photo of a girls mouth and copped
out the mouth using the quick slection tool. I copped a
photo to make it only show the skyline of Paris. Using
100% opacity and a soft-edged brushed, I painted
away the hard edges of the photo. I used 45% opacity
to blend the image to look like it was in the back of
the mouth. I placed the photo of the efel tower and
rotated it to have it follow the natural line of the
tongue. I put a mask on and repeated the above steps. I
selected the lips and tongue and inversed the selection
so everything else was selected, I pained it black. I
added a rain texture on the top and the text.
