Aastra MX-ONE Version 3 Linux

LZU 102 1608 2/4 Course Description

Overview
The Aastra MX-ONE Version 3 Linux course is designed for engineers who are required to
install, configure and maintain the MX-ONE Telephony System.
The course provides instruction on a number of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES 10)
features that are relevant to the MX-ONE Telephony System Version 3. The course does not
cover any of the standard Linux graphical interfaces as Linux GUIs are not used in MX-ONE.
Although the MX-ONE Telephony System is delivered with the operating system preinstalled,
engineers will benefit greatly from an understanding of Linux. Knowledge of Linux will help
engineers to maintain and troubleshoot the system. The MX-ONE Version 3 Linux course
enables students to understand, configure and use Linux features relevant to the MX-ONE
Telephony System. The course is highly recommended as a preparatory course for the MX-
ONE Telephony System I&M.
The MX-ONE Version 3 Linux course delivers special elements of Linux training with reference
to the installation, configuration and maintenance of the MX-ONE Telephony System.
A test (EETT-23016) is available on WebLearn to test the students Linux knowledge. The test
can be taken before or after attending the MX-ONE Version 3 Telephony System course. The
test is not part of the MX-ONE certification process, however, it is highly recommended that
students complete both course and test. The test enables students to check their Linux
competence. Good Linux knowledge will simplify the handling of the Telephony Server and the
fault tracing process.
Target audience
The course is designed for Service Partner and customer engineers who are new to Linux and
wish to attend the MX-ONE Telephony System I&M course.
Prerequisites
The MX-ONE Version 3 Linux course provides a starting point for students who wish to
become fully licensed MX-ONE first or second line engineers. The course is optional and does
not form part of the certification process. There are no prerequisites for the course, however,
basic knowledge of operating systems and server competence is advantageous.
Main Objectives
The course aims to provide students with detailed information on how to install, configure and
maintain SLES, with particular reference to the MX-ONE Telephony System environment.
The installation section introduces YaST as a tool for setting installation parameters.
The configuration section shows students how to manage users, use common
commands and add functionality such as additional commands and Web services.
The maintenance section provides information on managing services, backups and
disk recovery.
Upon completion of the course, students will be better prepared for the installation and
troubleshooting of the MX-ONE Telephony System.
