..1 Internship Learning Points 6 2indings of the Study
+his chapter deals #ith t#o parts, first, I tried to e/plain my ma$or learning points from ario&s
departments of the branch according to my position and d&ties! Second I described the findings
of my st&dy!
..1.1 Learning from General Banking
As I prepared my report based on this department f&nctions! So I gae m&ch more
concentration in this department! I learned a lot of banking #orks from this department!
Among those I hae mentioned some of my learning points that I ac,&ired from this
department-
Account opening section
+he main f&nction of this section is to open different types of acco&nt on the re,&est of client!
In this section I learnt ho# to open different type acco&nt like Al #adia c&rrent acco&nt *
different type of scheme! I also learned ho# to iss&e che,&e book and ho# to close an acco&nt!
&emittance Section
+his section is one of the most important sections of General Banking department in
0ohammadp&r 1aderia +ayebia 0adrasha Branch of SIBL! (rom this section I learnt a details
idea abo&t Payment order, >emand >raft and +elegraphic +ransferK I also learnt ho# to iss&e
those things!
8ash Section
I #orked three days in this section, at that time I learnt a lot of things, basically I learnt ho# to
receie cash from the client * )ash payment proced&re! =hen I receied cash from the client,
I co&nt the cash and compares #ith the fig&re #ritten in the deposit slip! I p&t signat&re on the
slip along #ith the ')ash Receied% seal and records in the cash receies register book against
?

acco&nt no! I also #orked in payment section, at that time I collect che,&e from the client and
erify some information like- date of the che,&e, signat&re of acco&nt holder!
8learing Section
)learing section is ery important sections in General Banking, almost eery section of
different departments are linked in this section! +here are many types of #orks I did in this
section, at first I gae entry the preio&s days che,&e in the o&t#ard bill and in#ard bill
cleaning book , then I collect che,&e book from the c&stomer!
..1.! Learning from 2oreign 01change (epartment
(oreign ./change is one of the most important departments, I #orked only one #eek in this
department, it is not eno&gh time to learn eery things b&t I tried to learn as m&ch as possible!
Basically I learnt a details idea abo&t e/port * import and the proced&re * re,&ired paper or
doc&ment that is necessary to open Letter of credit!
..1.' Learning from In%estment (epartment
I #orked only one #eek in this department in 0ohammadp&r 1aderia +ayebia 0adrasha
Branch of SIBL! I learnt a lot of inestment actiities #ithin this short period! Basically I hae
learnt a details idea abo&t different types of inestment modes that the bank &sed to meet their
c&stomer need, ma$or modes of inestment are- 0&daraba, 0&rabaha, Bai-m&azzal, etc!
..! 2indings of the Study
Among the three departments of the bank, I gae more emphasize on General Banking
actiities, in order to prepare my report! Basically my report"s findings are coer t#o ma$or
areas, first- Managing the need of General Banking customers%, #here I described ho#
SIBL is f&lfill their General )&stomers" need by offering different types of acco&nts and
deposit schemes! I also find the trend of different schemes and acco&nts that I described based
on my three months obserations!
I obsered the client deposit of different types of acco&nt and schemes are increased! +he
deposited amo&nt of Al #adia c&rrent acco&nt is +1! 257,HCB,2C2 in September and +k!
2?@,CC8,758 in :ctober! It indicates that Al #adia c&rrent acco&nt increased 8I from the
?

preio&s months! +he 0&d! Saing deposit is also increase +1! 25H,2HH,7?6 from the last
month 4September to :ctober9! +he deposited amo&nts of other types of scheme are also
increased!
Another ma$or area of my finding is 'Performance Analysis of SIBLA. I hae &sed some
methods to analyze the performance of SIBL, one of this is (inancial statement analysis
4)ommon size and comparatie (inancial statement analysis9, (rom the calc&lation I hae
obsered the amo&nt of total asset, inestment, client deposit, o#ners e,&ity and all other
balance sheet items are increase from the preio&s year 45668 to 56679! +he income statement
items like income from inestment, net profit after ta/ and all other ma$or items are increased
as both amo&nt and percentage from the preio&s year!
Another ma$or common tool to analyze the performance of the bank is Ratio analysis! (rom
my calc&lation of different types of ratio I obsered that the oerall position of Li,&idity and
.fficiency ratio are not good b&t the percentage of profitability and capital ade,&acy ratio are
increase from the preio&s year!
So the aboe e/planations indicate that the oerall performance and financial position of the
bank is satisfactory!
?

4.1 8onclusion
Social Islami Bank Limitedis one of the leading Islamic shariah based commercial bank in
Bangladesh! It #as incorporated on @
th
A&ly, 2BB@ as a res&lt of dedicated effort of a gro&p of
established Bangladeshi entreprene&rs and internationally important personalities! Internship
f&nctions hae been performed in three departments 4General banking, (oreign ./change and
Inestment department9! +he main finding of the report is ho# SIBL meet their General
banking c&stomer need! +o meet c&stomer need the bank offer different types of acco&nt, s&ch-
Al #adia c&rrent acco&nt, saing, and different types of deposit scheme like- Lakhopoti deposit
scheme, pension saing scheme etc! Some others important section in General Banking are-
Remittance, cash and clearing section, the bank also proide different types of serice from
those department like Payment order, >emand >raft, and +elegraphic transfer etc! (rom the
three months internship period it is obsered that the deposited amo&nt of different types of
acco&nts and scheme are increased in eery month! Another ma$or part of the report is
performance analysis of the SIBL! Some ma$or method is &sed to analyze the performance!
(rom the calc&lation it is obsered that the eery items of Balance sheet and Income statement
are increased from the last year! Ratio analysis in one of the common method to analyze the
bank performance, from the calc&lation it is obsered that the Li,&idity and .fficiency ratio are
not good b&t the percentage of profitability and capital ade,&acy ratio are increase from the
preio&s year! (rom the aboe e/planation indicate that the oerall performances of the bank
are satisfied!
?

4.! &ecommendations
0y three months e/perience in SIBL in ario&s departments, lead me to recommend on the
follo#ing iss&es-
>ifferent types of prod&ct and serice are aailable in SIBL b&t clients are not
concerned abo&t that, so adertisement and promotional actiities sho&ld be increased!
In General banking department it is necessary to implement modern banking process
instead of traditional system!
+he personnel of different section of General Banking is not s&fficient to proide
efficient serice for the client, so it necessary to increase n&mber of personnel
SIBL sho&ld try to red&ce the rate of commission charge for different serice
+he banks try to make fle/ible to acco&nt opening proced&re!
(inancial performance is not satisfied in some sector, so the bank needs to take
appropriate action to deelop financial position!
SIBL sho&ld try to increase the inestment amo&nt!
SIBL sho&ld introd&ce more innoatie * modern prod&ct and serice for their
prod&ct!
SIBL sho&ld try to proide a comp&ter for eery personnelK especially for the personnel
of cash section!
-o# a day, the on line banking is ery m&ch pop&lar in all oer the #orld, so the bank
sho&ld try to deelop is this side!
SIBL sho&ld increase >ebit card and A+0 serice
SIBL sho&ld try to introd&ce )redit card facilities for their client
