What do the learned scholars decree regarding the rights of the children towards their deceased

parents?
What do the learned scholars decree regarding the rights of the children towards their deceased parents?
The Answer:
1. The foremost rights of the children towards their deceased parents, is that once they have passed away, to make all arrangements for the janazah,
sch as ghsl, kaffan, !anazah "amaaz and #rial. $n doing so, one shold make sre that all the snnats and mstaha#s are also flfilled, so that
the deceased may receive fll #lessings.
%. &ne shold contine making da for them and also making istighfaar for them and not to #e negligent of that.
'. To always send the sawaa# of sad(a and khairaat to their sols. Try not to allow any shortcoming in doing so and only do what is within yor
means. When reading "amaaz for yo, also read "amaaz for them )send reward of "amaaz to them*. When keeping fast for yorself also keep fast
for them )send reward*. Actally when doing any good deeds, send the reward to them and to the sols of all the deceased +slims. ,very one of
them will receive their sawaa# and there will #e no shortage in sawaa# for anyone. &ne will receive great sccess and prosperity in doing this.
-. $f they owed anyone any money, then try yor #est to swiftly pay off this de#t. &ne mst note that #y paying of their de#ts with yor wealth is a
means of #lessing for yo in this world and in the hereafter. $f yo are not a#le to flfil or pay off the de#t, then take assistance from close family
mem#ers and other kind relatives, so that it may #e paid off.
.. Try to flfill all other de#ts. $f they have not made /ajj, then make /ajj on their #ehalf or send someone to make /ajj0e01adal. $f they owed any
zakaat etc. then try and pay this. $f they have any fast )roza* or "amaaz that was not completed, then give kaffarah as compensation and this is #ased
on assmption. Take responsi#ility to flfil all their shortcomings to the #est of yor a#ility and strive in doing so, so that they may gain salvation.
2. Try to the #est of yor a#ility to make sre that any permissi#le wasiyat )#e(est* made #y them is carried ot, even thogh it may not #e
necessary pon yo in the light of the 3hariat and even if it is difficlt pon yo, for e4ample if the deceased makes a #e(est that half his property #e
given to a certain relative, even thogh according to shariat he was only allowed to make a #e(est for one third of his property, his children shold
pt his #e(est #efore themselves and try to adhere to what he asked and have it flfilled.
5. ,ven after their demise, to #e loyal to a 6asam )oath* he had taken. $n other words, if he took an oath saying that his son will not go to a certain
place or meet with a certain person, then one shold not think that now that he has passed away, there is no need to have any consideration for the
oath he had taken. $t is not so. &ne mst contine like it was in his life time, nless there is something in 3hariah that does not allow yo to do so.
This does not however only refer to their oaths or vows, #t it refers to doing every permissi#le thing after their demise like they wished dring their
lifetime.
7. 8o for ziyaarat of their graves every 9riday. To recite 6ran in a tone, that they are a#le to hear yo and to send the reward of the recitation to their
sols. Whenever yo pass #y their grave, never #ypass it withot making salaam to them or making 9ateha.
:. ;ove their relatives for yor entire lifetime.
1<. 1e kind towards their friends and always respect them.
11. =o not ever swear the parents of others, casing the other person to reply #y swearing yor parents
1%. The o#ject that yo need to note most is that yo shold not remain sinfl and case them grief and sadness in their graves de to yor
wrongdoings. >or parents are aware of all that which yo are doing. When they see yo doing good deeds, they #ecome pleased and their faces
#egin to #eam with #rightness and happiness. When they see yo doing wrong, then they #ecome sad and their hearts #ecome #rdened. $t is not for
s to now case them grief after they have gone to their graves.
We pray that Almighty Allah, The +ercifl, The ?ompassionate, #lesses all +slims with the a#ility to do good deeds. We pray that Allah protects s
from sinning. We pray that Allah always fills the graves of or Akaa#irs )elders* with "oor and #lesses them with comfort for Allah is all @owerfl and
we are weak and helpless. Allah is 8hani and we are dependant.
