2.6.8.4 Lateral Deflection
The maximum allowable deflection for static wind design shall not exceed 50 mm for every 10m
of height.
2.6.9 Earthquake Load
2.6.9.1 Thailand Regulation
The Thailand Ministerial Regulation No.49 in November 2007 stated that 22 provinces within
Thailand are identified as regions which require design for earthquake. Rayong is not one of
these regions. Also the buildings within this project are considered small less than 300
residents. Hence, it is not necessary to design the buildings for earthquake.
The Thailand Ministerial Regulation No.49 in November 2007 aiso amended to include Bangkok
within the regions where buildings are to be designed to resist earthquake loading. The reason
for this is partly that the geology of Bangkok region is soft clay. The geology at Map Ta Phut is
firm sands and rock and is geologically classified as stable.
2.6.9.2 RTC Specification
Acheck of the earthquake loading according to 60-ASCV002 (Design load and force - cause
3.8) will be carried out on the basis of an earthquake design load equivaient to UBC Zone 1
based on Seismic hazard map and zoning from Ministry of Naturai Resources and Environment
2005.
2.6.10 Thermal Force
2.6.10.1 Concrete
Provision shall be made for stresses or movements resulting from variations in temperature.
The rise and fall in temperature shall be 15 'C and 20 'C, respectively. The coefficient of
thermal expansion and contraction for normal weight concrete shall be 0.0000108 per 'C.
2.6.10.2 Steel Structure
Temperature varies from range 10 to 60 Celsius. The coefficient of thermal expansion and
contraction shall be 0.000012 per 'C.
2.6.11 Ground Water Pressure
tAEC
Loads due to ground water pressure are calculated using a density of 10 kN/m

. The design
ground water level is assumed to be at Highest Astronomical Tide CDL +3.50 (Plant EL1.90) or
higher depending on site conditions and soil investigation results.
2.6.12 Blast Resistant
According to project technical specification SP-012 for process plant hazard and control
buildings design, blast resistant buildings are defined as buildings or other structures capable
of withstanding the effects of an accidental plant explosion giving rise to the pressure I time
effects given incident below. In resisting such an explosion the structure may suffer damage
