SPOKEN TUTORIAL WORKSHOP SERIES

Brief Introduction about Spoken Tutorial Project:
Spoken Tutorial Project is run by spoken tutorial team from IIT Bombay. Under this
project self learning workshops for Free Open Source Software are conducted remotely by
spoken tutorial team in various colleges across the country. Certain academic institutes are
recognized as academic centers for Spoken tutorial project. These academic centers
organize workshops with the help of study material provided by talk to a teacher project -
IIT Bombay. This project is funded by MHRD, Govt. of India under National Mission on
Education through Information and Communication Technology NMEICT.
Venus International College of Technology as an academic center for
spoken tutorial project:
Venus International College of Technology has been identified as one of the academic
centers that work with IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial Team to spread awareness on FOSS
technology under Spoken Tutorial Project. The college is registered with IIT Bombay
team and carries out SELF learning workshops regularly for benefit of students, faculty
members and the institute as a whole.

Open Source Technologies Club at Venus International College of
Technology:
In order to contribute towards advancement of the initiative taken by Govt. of India, IIT,
Bombay and GTU, Open Source Technologies Club has been established at Venus
International College of Technology Gandhinagar.

The Institute being an academic center, Department of Electrical Engineering is actively
involved in organizing self learning workshops on Free Open Source Software under
Spoken Tutorial Project. Till date four workshops have been organized on SCILAB
software for B. E. final year and pre final year students of EE and EEE branches

FIRST AND SECOND WORKSHOP ON SCI LAB SOFTWARE
UNDER SPOKEN TUTORI AL WORKSHOP SERI ES
Workshop Dates: 15 / 03 / 2013 and 22 / 03 / 2013
Venue for the workshop: Seminar Hall VICT and Computer Center
Time for the workshop: 2:00 to 4:00 PM
Targeted audience: Students of B. E. pre final year EEE branch
Workshop Organizer: Prof. K. A. Vyas
Workshop coordinators: Prof. H. Z. Amrolia Prof. J. J. Kania
Online Test date: 18 / 04 / 2013

Workshop flow

Total 101 students from final and pre final year of B. E. EE and EEE branch
attended the workshop on 15 / 03 / 2013 and 22 / 03 / 2013
All the participants were made aware of what the spoken tutorial project is and the
need of going with FOSS technology
Participants were shown spoken tutorial videos on SCI LAB software that were
made available by IIT Bombay team
Students watched the demo videos and practices the SCILAB software on their own
in session arranged in the computer centre
Study material was provided to the participants for preparation of online test to be
conducted by Spoken Tutorial Team IIT Bombay
After registering themselves on the workshop website participants gave preliminary
feedback regarding conduction of the workshop.
Students carried out self study related to working and application of SCILAB
software with the help of study material provided by Spoken Tutorial team I I T
Bombay
On successful completion of the test conducted on 18 / 04 / 2013 at Computer
Center - Department of Electrical Engineering, total 54 students have received
workshop completion certificate by IIT Bombay spoken tutorial team.

THIRD AND FOURTH WORKSHOP ON SCI LAB SOFTWARE

workshop on 14 / 08 / 2013 and 23 / 08 / 2013
