MTR was founded as a restaurant by Parampalli Yajnanarayana Maiya and his brothers in the year 1924. The
food served at the MTR is a regular, wholesome Karnataka Brahmin fare and has its origins in the Udupi
Brahmin cuisine of the coastal region of Karnataka. The decor is outdated, as more attention is paid to
cleanliness and food quality than ambiance. For many years, the customers entered the restaurant through
the kitchen so that they would be able to satisfy themselves about the restaurants cleanliness before they
ate there. During World War II, MTR found it difficult to make idlis since rice was in short supply. According
to MTR, they experimented with using semolina instead of rice and thus invented the very popular breakfast
item of Rava idli.

I agree with SNR jp nagar 2nd phase J P nagar. This is authentic South Indian breakfast to go
places. I would like to see a places which serves different cuisines of breakfast in Bangalore. Cos
honestly sometimes I do crave to eat something apart dosas and idlies. If you can list them out
that would great.. By far this has to be the best list

I agree with Arun and Seahorse........Have been going to SN Refreshments for more than 10 years
now and it is one of the best places to have Idli, Vada and sambhar........ Their Dosa and chutney the
best I have had anywhere......Just awesome......and way better than Vidyarthi Bhavan, SLV or
CTR........Janatha Hotel also serves some great Vada and dosa's..... but I would rank SN
Refreshments way above everyone else..

Harsha very good compilation. Bayalli neeru barsi bitri marayre.... The MTR hot jamoons needs a
mention. All Adigas in Bangalore makes good dosas and excellent Rava idlis with ghee on the top.
The best however is the Jayanagar 4th block and the one that is near Ashoka Pillar. The coffee in
Chandrika Cunningham Road needs a mention. The coffee and breakfast of Janata hotel, Kamath
hotel in Gandhi Nagar, Majestic is also good. The davangere benne dose in Basaveshwara Nagar is
good. For travellers going via Tumkur, it has to be Kumaranna's Tatte idli(Dr RajKumar Idli Hotel,
kyatasandra) with Masala vada. For travellers driving towards Mysore, it has to be Kamath
Lokaruchi next to Janapada Loka. They serve kotte kadubu(idli wrapped and cooked in jackfruit
leaves) and Ragi Dosa apart from the normal dosa etc (Dont forget to buy the Maddur vada in the
signal in RamNagar by the boys) For travellers driving towards Hassan, you can stop at Hotel
Mayura just before Bellur Cross.(Dont forget to buy Cucumber In CR patna/Hassan, they are of
export quality)

Hey! Perfect list. Tried almost everywhere and I guess Brahmins and Veena have the best idlis and
Ullas has the best Masala dosa (somehow not too fond of the excessive grease at CTR and VB).
Hey and do follow bennebangalore if you're on instagram

and post pictures of the same.

Now first of all! 1. Where is Janardhan hotel on Race course! It's one of the best sagu doses I've
had yet! 2. Chalukya at high point? How could u miss that one? 3. Udupi Krishna Bhavan on
sultanpet is the best sambar by far. 4. Chikkanna tiffin room in cottonpet is the best mini masala
Dosa. 5. Muddana for its amazing rice feasts, all three of em! 6. And I would recommend u also
include Sanman restraunt in the Hoysala Hotel in Sheshadripuram for its good breakfast. Also
overall good mentions of places like Sidanna (sidappa), CTR (Sri sagar). I also have many more
under my hood if you shall with to find out. Get in touch with my I'd!
