The British and Colombian Chamber of Commerce (B&CCC) and UK Trade &
Investment (UKTI) London and South East are leading a Multi-sector Trade Mission to
Colombia and Peru. However Infrastructure, Construction, Extractive Industries and
Retail companies will benefit the most.

The goal of this mission is to assist small to medium-sized companies to export
products and services to two of the main high-growth economies in Latin America.

In recent years, economic and legal reforms have helped create a more predictable
environment for commercial engagement in Latin America. Global direct investment
is flowing to the region, a reflection of its growing significance as home and host to
multinational corporations. Peru has been one of the fastest growing Latin American
economies for the past ten years with an average of 6% GDP Growth, driven by
consumption and private investment. President Humala has pledged to encourage
private and public investment in infrastructure projects in transportation,
telecommunications, energy, sanitation, airports and ports, congruent with his other
campaign goals to reduce poverty and reduce the nations socioeconomic gap,
through social spending.

Colombia has dramatically improved security throughout the country and has achieved
an average economic growth rate of 5 percent. Although Colombia still faces many
challenges, including infrastructure deficiencies, the country boasts a growing economy
with investment grade status, a rising middle class and a government that is
committed to democratic prosperity and regional leadership. It is dedicated to
expanding its free trade agreements with the Americas, Europe, and Asia and its
leaders are pushing for Colombia to become the third largest economy in Latin
America, in line with the relative size of its population. The UK Government is highly
devoted to supporting companies that can provide technology and know-how to
Colombian counterparts to increase local competitiveness and productivity. Both
countries, who are members of the Pacific Alliance, have already agreed to eliminate
tariffs on 92 percent of trade within their countries.

This trade mission will allow UK companies to highlight their cutting-edge technologies and
world-class products and services needed in these emerging markets. It will also allow them to
make the personal connections required to expand their businesses and it will build on Lord
Greens National Export Initiative, a government-wide strategy to promote UK exports.
