W
e have entered the period of Dakshinayana, where the suns
relationship with the planet changes from its northern movement
to its southern run. The shift within the human body is such that it
is more conducive for sadhana, for setting goals. It is the time when the
farmer begins to plough the land. It is the time when the yogi begins to
knead this piece of earth the body that he is privileged to carry. It is at
this time, many thousands of years ago, that the magnificent eyes of the
Adiyogi fell upon the human creature.
The first full moon of Dakshinayana is Guru Pournami, when the Adiyogi
actually started teaching, and when the first Guru was born. This is about
transcendence and liberation, a possibility that human beings never knew,

and still most do not know. It does not matter what your genetics are,
who your father was, or what limitations you are born with or acquired,
you can transcend all of that, If you are willing to strive.
In this culture, Guru Pournami was always recognized and celebrated as
the day when new possibilities opened up for the human race. But those
that ruled this country in the last 300 years had their own plans; they saw
that as long as people are spiritually rooted and strong, you cannot rule
them. Why isnt Guru Pournami a holiday? Why should Sunday be a
holiday? What are you doing on a Sunday? Eating potato chips and
watching television? You do not even know what to do! But if there is a
holiday on a full moon day or new moon day, we know what to do. It is
time that a holiday is a day that is significant for us. At least, Guru
Pournami should be a holiday, so that people know the significance of it.
When such a phenomenon got involved with the human creature, it
should not go to waste.
I want all of you to take this up.
This Guru Pournami, do not go to
the office. Apply for leave and say,
It is Guru Pournami, so I am not
coming. Tell all your friends to
apply for leave because it is Guru

listen to music, meditate, watch

day after the solstice. Tell at least
ten other people that this is a
significant day.
Right now, the topmost thing on my mind, and the most important part
of what we are going to do with what is left of life, is to see that the whole
world becomes conscious of this one thing that the Adiyogi offered: if you
are willing to strive, you can transcend all your limitations. We want this
one message, which is over 15,000 years old, to reverberate across the
planet. Whether everybody actually gets there or not, they should at least
know that if they have the necessary focus, they can. Many things are
being done towards this.
As a first step, we will unveil the first statue of the Adiyogi on this Guru
Pournami, the 12th of July. This will happen here at the Isha Yoga
Center, and you are all invited to attend. The statue is over 21 feet tall and
will be transported to the United States to be established in our center in
Tennessee. That is just the beginning. We are also building another statue
of just the face of Adiyogi. It will be 112 feet tall; probably the tallest face
on the planet. We are hoping to establish four of them in four corners of
the country; one will definitely happen right here at the Isha Yoga Center.
The rest of them, all of you must do.
I want this one message to reach every human being. No matter what
they are going through in their lives their struggles, frustrations,
madness, longing that IF THEY ARE WILLING TO STRIVE, THEY
CAN TRANSCEND ALL OF THIS. We want to set up this one sign in
every human mind and heart. I want all of you to stand up and do
whatever you can, wherever you are, to make this happen.

The Great masters of this great nation ,we are sorry we allowed ourselves to be
ruled by everything western...It was true we thought ourselves a little inferior to
them...Because that was how we were taught when we were kids..But not
anymore.. Thank you Sadguru, Thank you Vivekananda for showing the value in
us..Now it is up to us to carry it forward..To teach our children to only take the
language of the foreigner but not his heart and mind..That should be hundred
percent Bharathiya.. Sadguru we are more than willing to spread your
message..Show us the direction ..We are ready to walk on the path showed by you
with your grace...
P.S Our children should grow up with pride in our culture...As adults that is a small
gratitude we can offer to all the Mahatmas walked on this land. Let us do this ..Let
the fragrance of Inner Joy spread all over the world

Why the first statue of the Adi Yogi is going to the USA? Why not here at IYC? On
one hand we are criticizing the west for outlawing Guru Pournami during their 300
years of rule. At the same time we are sending the first statue to the west. How
sensible is this?

The most Profound must come up up at places most profane. Only then the
process of transformation will fulfill its true meaning. Here at ISY,
Coimbatore we have Dhyanalinga ( The live Guru), the grace ia allready
available to all of us. Its only fair that first statue of ADIYOGI (ADINATH,
DAKSHINMURTY, SHIVA ) its comes up at TENESSE. Bro, Let's not belittle
our hearts, let us share this grace with all. It is indeed beautiful that people in
USA receive this. And let the light of transformation be lit.

There are still quite a lot of people aping the West. So when the West
meditates, they'll follow suit.

Patanjali said, ''And now, Yoga''...till the East reclaims itself,
materially and otherwise, it will not follow suit. But, yes, West can
make meditation popular. That's one good thing...

Sadhguru has told that we will have similar Adi Yogi in IYC entrance. The US
one will take several months to reach US. Before that we will set it up one in
IYC, i guess.
Let us follow what Shadhguru has told to do on the day of Guru Poornima,
this year and the coming years :-)

Namaskaram sadhguru,
Some people started asking about the significance and necessity of the statue, a
stone sculpture can carry the history, value and meaning of it for 1000s of years.
There are temples across the globe which was built by Indians, they not just speak
of our culture, talent etc., but also about our spiritual nature. we have lost almost all,
most of it, so this attempt is like a reminder to ourselves. Without a material or
symbol it is hard for most of the people to remember.
Lastly:- Am a proud Bharatvanshi. we need to restore pride for others who have lost
it.

If instead of statues, lingams were being energised and consecrated, and
meditation halls were being created, it would have been great, but statues
are just mud or copper. Maybe it has some symbolic significance, but India
already has many temples and statues of deities, which need maintenance.
It'll be a better idea to maintain them. And statues invariably get destroyed by
natural disasters. Focus should be on sadhana than all this...that's what I
think. So, I haven't missed a day of Shambhavi since my initiation, which
was almost 3 years back...

July 12th is saturday so it is anyways holiday this year.
There are some misinformation about Shiva in famous books like Immortals of
Meluha. Millions of people are reading it. Also some of the stories shows in TV
serials like Devon ke Dev Mahadev/Shivam make it a myth as opposed to reality.
Society is imbibing so much of misinformation.

Don't know about the west but in India...we as it is have too many holidays...we
need more working days. I disagree with this "holiday" concept totally.

Sadhguru, I have followed your meditation and blogs and I am intellectually
convinced by them- that is why I follow. However, I wonder if making large statues,
hundreds of feel tall is the right way to establish faith. If we have so much money to
spare, why dont we open schools, why dont we open hospitals ?

The way he talks about the adi yogi makes him seem like he wasn't human... "It
was at this time...that the magnificent eyes of the adi yogi fell upon the human
creature." And later, "when such a phenomenon got involved with the human
creature, it should not go to waste." So this is just a matter of curiosity: was the adi
yogi himself human? And if so, where did he come from and how did he come to
know so much about yoga? What is his life story before his enlightenment? And I he
was not human...then what is he and still where did he come from? Thanks, been
wondering about this for some time. It would be fascinating to hear about to better
understand the nature of all these shrines...

I heard Sadhguru himself tell that he is not a Human Being in some video.
He said that he is not an Earthly being. And was not of Human species. He
tells this when he described about Shiva's marriage with Parvati. And in the
recent Darshan, Sadhguru hinted that Shiva created himself referring to the
5 elements as his Parents.

That's just it. You are no less or no more than any other, including
Sadhguru. It's all "good" (or god or whatever). There is your grace, from
forever, now, and for forever. It always was, is and always will be. Sadhguru
shows us the way. Just follow the way to find out who your really are. Relax.

Dear Sadhguru
I do not agree in celebrating Guru Pournami in the way you have asked because the
ultimate transcendence is to God, not another human being. If one loses sight of
God as an indwelling and external Doer and Controller of the World who is always
right, one cannot be free to get on with ones daily chores. What you are asking is
that we worship guru as something more important than worshipping God. This is
false teaching.
Shantanu

Sadhguru is only asking us to dedicate the day of Guru Pournami for our
inner well-being, to invest some time so that we become receptive to the
Grace of all the Masters who are there to help us transcend our limitations
and experience a dimension that is not in our present level of perception.
Guru is a doorway to the beyond. Without the Guru, most of us cannot
experience the Divine. For most of the people, God becomes a reality only
because of the Guru. It is juvenile to think that Sadhguru is asking us to
worship some person, and not the Creator. Let alone false teaching, he is
not even giving a teaching. He is only asking us to devote this day for our
inner well-being. Though I disagree with Sadhguru on the 'holiday' part, I get
the broader message, which he is trying to convey...
