Verbos que no aparecen normalmente en formas progresivas o
continuas:
- Verbos relacionados con los sentidos: HEAR, TASTE,
SMELL, SEE.
- Verbos relacionados con actividad mental: KNOW, BELIEVE,
THINK, UNDERSTAND, RECOGNISE, REMEMBER,
MEAN.
- Verbos que indican posesin: POSSESS, OWN, HAVE,
BELONG.
- Verbos relacionados con actitudes: WANT, PREFER, NEED,
APPRECIATE, LOVE, LIKE, HATE, DISLIKE.

2. Frequency expressions
Frequency adverbs:
- Uso: Los adverbios de frecuencia son los que, como su nombre
indica, hacen referencia a la asiduidad o frecuencia con que se
realiza una accin, por lo que aparecen a menudo con el presente
simple, que como ya hemos visto se utiliza para expresar
acciones habituales.
- Posicin en la oracin: Los adverbios de frecuencia van
situados:
Delante del verbo principal:
He usually answers the phone.
He has never eaten Indian food.
Excepto si se trata del verbo To be:
This room is never quiet.
- Lista de adverbios de frecuencia:
never nunca
hardly ever casi nunca
rarely rara vez
occasionally en ocasiones
sometimes a veces
often a menudo
usually normalmente
always siempre
Other expressions of frequency:
Hay otras maneras de expresar frecuencia a travs de expresiones
temporales tales como: once a week (una vez a la semana), twice
a month (dos veces al mes), everyday (todos los das), etc.
- Posicin en la oracin: Como expresiones temporales que son,
irn situados al final de la oracin siguiendo el orden habitual de
la oracin inglesa:
Sujeto + Verbo + objetos + Complementos (1 Modo + 2 Lugar + 3 Tiempo)
She goes running in the park every day.
He studies hard at home every weekend.

3. Expressing like or dislike
Toda la gama de verbos que denotan gusto por una actividad van
seguidos del verbo en forma de gerundio:
LOVE: She loves walking on the sand.
Le encanta caminar sobre la arena.
LIKE: I like cooking pastries.
Me gusta cocinar dulces.
DONT MIND: I dont mind ironing.
No me molesta planchar.
DISLIKE: We dislike being late for the cinema.
Nos molesta llegar tarde al cine.
HATE: I hate going shopping.
No me gusta nada hacer la compra.
CANT STAND: I cant stand being disturbed when Im reading.
