Dear Candidate,

You have been provisionally selected for admission to the M.Sc. programme in Biotechnology at
IIT Roorkee.

You are therefore, required to be present on July 24, 2009 at IIT Roorkee for registration. You must
bring the Institute Fees through a demand draft drawn in favour of “Registrar, IIT Roorkee”
payable at Roorkee at the time of Registration. The Institute fees for different programmes are
given below:-

payable at Roorkee at the time of Registration.

The minimum educational qualification (MEQ) and eligibility requirement (ER) to take admission in
the M.Sc. Programme in Biotechnology at IIT Roorkee are given below:-

MEQ: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary/

Engineering/ Medicine (MBBS).
ER: At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and
subsidiaries, all years combined) for General and OBC category candidates and at least 50%
aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years
combined) for SC/ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

Failing to comply with any of the above requirements will automatically lead to the
cancellation of admission to the M.Sc. Programme at IIT Roorkee and the student will have to
leave the programme. Candidates whose final results for the qualifying degree are awaited
have to submit the results by 30-09-2009.

Candidates who accept admission offer are required to bring this offer letter along with JAM 2009
Rank-cum-Score card, all the original certificates, mark sheets for verification, Undertaking
and Physical Fitness Certificate at the time of registration. Classes will commence on July 27,
2009.
