Rules For The Doubling Method

TheRules(Theactualrulesareinboldtype.Supplementaryinformationisinlightertype.)

Definition:Theamountofmoneyyouhaveatanyonetime(dependingonwhichstepyouare
on)iscalledthestake.Initially,yourstakeisnothing.Thenits1cent,thenits2cents,etc.On
starting(say)step16,yourstakewouldbe$160.

Rule1.Youmustfindorbegiventhefirstcoin;a1centpiece.Ideallyyoushouldfinditinthe
street,etc.Giveyourselfatleastonemonthtodoso,althoughinrealityyouwillfinditinthe
firstdayorweekatmost.Youmustnotuse1centofyourownmoney.Anymoneyyoufind
afterthis1cent(duringanystageofusingthissystem)canbeaddedtothestakemoney.E.g.
finding$10inthestreet(assumingyoucantfindtheowner!)immediatelyleapfrogsyouon
step12(orcanbeaddedtothestakemoneyifyouareonalaterstage).

Rule2.Youmustuseonlythestakemoneyduringthecurrentdoublingattemptyoucannot
supplementitwithyourownmoney,borrowedmoney,etc.Youdonthavetouseallthestake
moneybutyoucantusemorethanthestakemoney.Thisisexplainedfurtherinrule4.

Rule3.Duringthefirstfifteenstepsyoumustusetheactualcoinsandnotesgainedinthe
precedingstep.Letmeexplain.Supposingyouareonstep9andhavejustdoubled$1.28into
$2.56(saytwo$1notes,2dimes,anickelandacent).Youmustusetheseactualnotes&coinsas
yourstakemoneyforstep10,andnotdifferentnotes/coins,oracheckfor$2.56.Afterstep15,it
getsdifficulttokeepitupasthelargeramountsofmoneywillbeinthebankandsales/trades
willhavetobedonebycheck,etc.Afterstep15Iurgeyoutosetupaseparatebankaccountjust
forthisdoublingoperation,butthisisnotarule,justasuggestion.

Rule4.Ifyourcurrentstepresultsinmorethandoubling,thenyoumustspendthesurplus
onyourselfandleaveonlytheapprovedstakemoney.Forexample,ifyouareonstep17and
managetochangeyourstakeof$320into$700,thenyoumustspendtheextra$60(leavingyou
with$640)andnotcarrythisontothenextsteptomakeiteasier.Putsimplystarteachstep
withonlythestakemoneyallowedforthatstep.

Rule5.Ifyourcurrentactionresultsinlessthandoubling,thenyoumayuseasmuchofthe
originalstakeandprofittocompletethisstep.Inshort,onanyonestepyoudonthaveto
doublethemoneyinonetransaction.Youcancarryoutasmanytransactionsasyoulike,until
youhavesucceededindoublingthestakemoney.

Example:Youareonstep18($640$1280)andyoumanagetodoadealwhichincreasesthe$640
staketo(say)$900.Youmaynowusethat$900inanotherdealtotryandreach$1280.

Rule6.Youmustkeepadiaryofevents.Useanynotebook.Onepageperstep.Headeach
of28pageswithatitlee.g.STEP11$5$10.Onthepageyouwillrecordthedateandmethod
ofachievingthestep.Youwillalsouseitforplanningthenextstepcomingupwithideasof
howtoachieveit.

Rule7.Throughoutyourdoublings,youwillneedseveraldifferentstrategies.Itsobvious
thatthestrategyforturning$1.28into$2.56willbedifferentfromthestrategyforturning
$160,000into$320,000.Becauseofthis,rule7(themostimportantrule)is:Dontworryabout
howyouaregoingtomanagefuturedoublings.Concentrateonlyonthecurrentdoubling.
(Thinkingtoofaraheadwilldiscourageyou.Avoiddeadlythoughtslikethis:Sure,Icandouble
$5into$10,buthowamIgoingtodouble$40,000$80,000?Itsimpossible.Imayaswellgiveup

Rule8.Youllbetemptedtobreakthechainwhenyougettoareasonableamountofmoney
(e.g.$50,000).Thistemptationwillbeoverwhelmingthemoremoneyyoumake.Sohereisthe
mostdifficultruleofall:Yourenotallowedtospendonecentofthemoney(apartfromasa
stake)untilyouhaveonemilliondollars+inthebank.Thenitsallyours.

indisciplinepermeatestheirlivesfromtoptobottom.Ruleeightisthetoughestofthelot.Do

rightnow.Cantyouthinkofalotofstuffyouwouldwanttorunoutandbuy?Canyouresist
thistemptation?Wellsee...

Rule9.Anothertoughrule:Youmustnotdivertmoneyintothesystemwhichyouwould
havegotanywayhadyounotbeendoingthesystem.Youmustalwaysusethestakemoneyto
gainthenextstep.Essentiallythen,youmusttradetoachieveeachstep,ratherthanwork(in
employment)toachieveit.Youmaytakeonextraworkoutsideofyournormalfieldof
occupation,butIwarnyounowthattherearestrictlimitstohowfaryouwillgetusingthis
approach.Trade,dontwork.

Rule10.Youmustuseonlythestakemoney,andnotstolenorhiddenresources.Youcan
useresourcesthatyouownandarefullypaidfor(e.g.aPC,FaxMachine,car,etc.)butthese
shouldretaintheirvalueafteryouhavefinishedthestep(e.g.youcantsellthemtoraise
money!).Youshouldalsoavoidusinganythingwhichispartofanexistingbusinessrunbyyou
becausethehiddencostsarebeingbornbythatbusinessandnotbythesystem.Dittoforusing
yourcar,iftherunningcostsarenotbeingpaidoutofthestakemoney.Usecommonsense.The
oddphonecallonthehouseortripinthecarisokay.Runningataxiserviceusingacaryou
alreadyown,ormaking10,000copiesofamanualontheofficephotocopier,freeofcharge
amountstostealingfromoutsidethesystem.

Thedoublingsystemshouldideallystandalone,wellapartfromyour
normalemploymentandmethodofmakingmoney.

Rule11.Thisisthesnakesandladdersrule.Ifyoufailonastep,youmustdropdownthe
snakeuntilyouarriveatthesteprepresentedbyyourremainingmoneyandstartagain
fromthatstep.E.g.youaretryingtodouble$5$10.Youbuysomethingfor$2,hopingtosellit.
Youfailandhavelostthe$2,leavingyouwith$3.Youarenowbacktostep10($2.56$5.12).

Rule12.Youareallowedtoaddyourlabor.Forexample,youcanbuyrawmaterialsfor$20
(stakemoney),andreworkthemintosomethingwhichyousellfor$40.Youwillquicklyrealise
thelimitsofthisapproach,however,andthisisapowerfulteachinglesson.Youcantgetrich
byworkinginaconventionalmanner.

RuleTwo:Supposingyouareonstep13($20$40).Youseeanamazingbargainwhichcosts
$30andcouldbesoldfor$80.Sorry,butyoucantadd$10ofyourownmoneytothe$20stake.

contaminationtothespecialmagicofthedoubledmoney.Dontletoutsidemoneytaintyour

RuleThree:Supposingyouhavejustmade$40(instep12).Thisrulemeansyoucantputitin
thebank(orspendit)andthenuseanotherdifferent$40(cashorcheck)asyourlaterstake

more,thenrulefourapplies.Youdonthavetocompleteeachstepinonetransactionordeal,

RuleSix:Thisismostimportantforchartingyourprogressandforplanningnewideas.Itwill

RuleNine:ThemoneygainedmustbeNEWmoney.Moneyyouwouldntnormallyhavegot
unlessyouhadstartedthedoublingsystem.Forexample,youareonstep10andstrugglingfor
awaytogettostep11.Itisnotpermissibletoworkafewextrahoursdownthepub(or
whereveryounormallywork)togetthemoney.Youcouldhavedonethisanyway,itisnot
newmoney.Also,youarenotemployingthestakemoneytoachievethisstep.Supposingyou
arealreadyrunningasmallbusiness.Youarenotallowedtousestakemoneytobuyandsell
withinyourexistingfieldofoperation(usingoverheadspaidforoutsideofthesystem).Thisis
notnewmoneyandyouareusingallsortsofhiddenadvantages(existingproducts,customer
loyalty,etc.)tohelpyouachievethisstep.Youcouldhavedonethiswithoutthesystem.Asa
ruleofthumb,youshouldtradeintotallyunrelatedareastoyournormalemploymentor
business.

RuleTen:Forexample,itisnotpermissibletobuy$40worthofpaperandthenusetheoffice
colorphotocopiertorunofffineartprintswhichyoucansellfor$80.Why?Becauseyouare
inputtingmorethanthestakemoney.Youarenotcountingthecostofpurchasingand
servicingthecopier,orcreatingtheoriginalartwork.Ineffectyouwouldbestealingthese
valuesfromsomeoneelse.Thecorrectwayofdoingthiswouldbetocreatetheartworkyourself
(orgenuinelybegivenit,free)andthentogotoacopyshopandpaythetruepriceofcolor
photocopying.Ihopeyouseethedifference.Thisrulesayslittlemorethandontcheat.

RuleEleven:Supposingyouinvest$80anditgoeshorriblywrong.Insteadoftheexpected
$160,youendupwith(say)$6.Thiscanhappen,dontworryaboutit.Thismeansthatyou
mustconsideryourselfnowtobebackonstep11,tryingtoturn$5into$10(again).

RuleTwelve:Beawarethough,thatthisstrategywillonlyworkupuntilaboutstep20,after
whichyouhavetoworktoolongandhardtomakeeachsuccessivestephappen.Again,this
mustbesomethingyourenotdoingalready.Ultimatelyyouwillhavetotradebuyandsellor
