This team will $e chosen from Catholic Charities sta' and %olunteers from across the country who ha%e demonstrated a commitment to ad%ancing the engagement of %olunteers( &romoting %olunteer management as a &rofession and to li%ing out the mission of Catholic Charities) *e as&ire to create a grou& of &eo&le who inno%ati%ely manage %olunteers( ad%ocate for %olunteer management in their agency and utili+e %olunteers to reduce &o%erty in America) ,n order to hel& you make an informed decision a$out $eing a &art of this team( we created this &acket containing $ackground information on the Network and guidelines for steering committee functioning) Volunteer Managers Network The Volunteer Managers Network of Catholic Charities USA is an a-nity grou& for sta' and %olunteers from Catholic Charities USA mem$er agencies and a-liates( who want to ad%ance %olunteerism as a &ractice and &hiloso&hy( integrate %olunteers into daily o&erations and &romote the leadershi& of Volunteer Managers) The Volunteer Managers Network ser%es as a forum for networking and &rofessional de%elo&ment $y sharing $est &ractices( learning new skills( antici&ating trends( grou& &ro$lem sol%ing and as a resource for materials( training( and formation tools that make managing %olunteers successful) Steering Committee .uidelines The Volunteer Managers Network will create and $e led $y a Steering committee re&resenting the mem$ershi& of the Network) The Volunteer Managers Network Steering committee will &ro%ide strategic direction( Volunteer Managers Network Steering Committee Information Sheet 2014 facilitate networking and coordinate Network acti%ities) The team will re&resent the di%ersity of models and skills &resent in Catholic Charities agencies across the country) The Steering committee will consist of u& to twel%e mem$ers) Steering committee mem$ers will $e selected from the o%erall Network mem$ershi&) /ach year candidates will $e solicited from the entire Networks roster to $e considered for o&en &ositions on the Steering committee) Candidates a&&ly to $e a &art of the Team and are selected $y the Steering committee $ased on 0uali1cations( e2&erience and skills) The Steering committee attem&ts to maintain a grou& re3ecti%e of the gender( age( racial and ethnic di%ersity of the Network mem$ershi& as well as the region( si+e and sco&e of the agency in which the mem$ers work) Mem$ers will ser%e two year terms and may a&&ly for a second two4year term through the annual a&&lication &rocess) Terms will $e staggered to facilitate continuity) Terms will $egin in 5anuary and end in 5anuary) The Steering committee will ha%e at least one Catholic Charities USA Sta' 6iaison to the Network who will facilitate the e2change of information and resources $etween the Volunteer Managers Network mem$ershi&( Steering committee mem$ers and Catholic Charities USA) Meetings To ensure focus and continuity( the Steering committee will conduct conference calls as needed and will hold an o&tional face4to4face meeting at the Catholic Charities USA Annual .athering) The Team will function on a consensus $asis) *hen %oting is necessary( the Team will function on a majority $asis) The steering committee mem$ers are asked to make a time and work commitment to the team) Mem$ers can antici&ate &artici&ating u& to three hours a month as a steering committee mem$er)
