Abstract--Basic guidelines for the preparation of a technical

work for the IEEE Power Engineering Society are presented.

This document is itself an example of the desired layout
(inclusie of this a!stract" and can !e used as a template. The
document contains information regarding desktop pu!lishing
format# type si$es# and typefaces. Style rules are proided that
explain how to handle e%uations# units# figures# ta!les#
a!!reiations# and acronyms. Sections are also deoted to the
preparation of acknowledgments# references# and authors&
!iographies. The a!stract is limited to '() words and cannot
contain e%uations# figures# ta!les# or references. It should
concisely state what was done# how it was done# principal
results# and their significance.
Index Terms--The author shall proide up to ') keywords (in
alpha!etical order" to help identify the ma*or topics of the
paper. The thesaurus of IEEE indexing keywords should !e
referenced prior to selecting the keywords to ensure that the
words selected are accepta!le. The thesaurus is posted at
http+,,www.ieee.org,organi$ations,pu!s,ani-prod,keywrd./.txt.
It is also aaila!le !y sending an e-mail (with no message
necessary" to 0keywords1ieee.org2. 3 large 3S4II file of the
keywords (55) k!# approximately (( pages" will !e returned to
you ia e-mail. Before using this option# !e sure your local e-mail
has the capacity to receie a file as large as this one.
