The difficulty levels of the campaigns are:
Patton: rating 52.
Rommel: rating 110.
Montgomery: rating 95.
Guderian: rating 140.
Patch: rating 100.
Kesselring: rating 152. Note that this campaign has been designed

O'Connor: rating 15. This campaign has been designed as an
introductory campaign. It will be easier than the other campaigns
and should be played first if you wish to become familiar with

MANUAL UPDATES
<<Promotions and Slots>>
Promoting to Level 5 (taking up two slots). A leader promoted to
level 5 gets additional benefits over lower level leaders.
1. Gains 2 additional shots with whatever equipment he is
leading. This means a 10-strength unit will attack like it
was a 12-strength unit.
2. Gains a medal (the first one is class specific) if the
leader doesn't have one.
3. The equipment attributes become harder to destroy (both
fire and move attributes).
4. The leader's first two attacks are at full effectiveness.
5. The leader's first two moves are at full movement range.
These benefits apply to leaders between level 5-7.
Promoting to Level 8 (taking up three slots). A leader promoted
to level 8 gets even more benefits over lower level leaders.

1. Gains 2 more shots (to a total of 4) with whatever
equipment he is leading. This means a 10-strength unit
will attack as if it were a 14-strength unit.
2. Gains another medal (the second is a random one) if the
leader doesn't have one.
3. The equipment attributes become even harder to destroy
(both fire and move attributes).
4. The leader's first three attacks are at full effectiveness.
5. The leader's first three moves are at full movement range.
These benefits apply to leaders between level 8-10.
<<Sorting the Roster Bar>>
The "sort by available actions" is the default setting. As units
use their actions they will be moved to the right in the roster
bar. Units with the most remaining actions will always be
displayed to the left.
<<Major Victory>>
One benefit of obtaining a major victory not listed in the manual
is the addition of a roster slot to your army.
<<Order Change>>
All Out Attack - this has been changed. When an infantry attacks
with this order active and generates a retreat (barring
entrenchment), the enemy unit will surrender.
HINTS
- If you have questions about a button or option, right click on
it, in most cases there will be help text to explain how the
option works.
- Build a balanced army, it is more effective especially if you
are able to mix a large number of 4 star units with a few
selective higher level leaders.
- Remember to promote your leaders before the scenario or
between battles in the campaign. Promotions left in the
officer's tent are wasted actions.
- Put a friendly infantry adjacent to a unit which is
attacking an enemy infantry in rough terrain (including towns).
This will make remove the effects of the terrain (infantry supports
the attack. This really benefits tanks attacking protected infantry.
- Ctrl-w is a VERY useful hotkey. It allows you to review your
whole army at a glance (only from the main battle screen, it
is not available in Headquarters).
- Leaders will die (KIA) or go missing (MIA) when a unit is
destroyed, count on it. The chance of a leader living through
the destruction of his unit (becoming an MIA) is about 40%. If
a leader goes missing he will return to the officer's tent
prior to the next CAMPAIGN scenario only.
- Recon units are one of the most important aspects of your army
composition. They can spot hidden units and can screen your
forces from the view of the enemy. Protect them carefully (the
AI loves to go after them).
- Sometimes you will need to put a different class leader in a
piece of equipment to meet the needs of your army. The
benefits will outweigh the penalties in most cases.
- Remember to hit a strong enemy unit with multiple units of
your own. The concept of "Combined Arms" in the new system is
very effective. You can kill any unit if you gang up on it.
- If you have the time and the scenario allows, rebuild your
army before a battle (use the auto-breakdown key to breakdown
the undeployed units and then build it back piece by piece).
It is the best way to optimize your forces. Note that you can
exit headquarters, review the main map, strat. Map, and
objectives and then return to headquarters to modify your army
to fit the terrain.
- Elevation is key in the game. You receive a combat bonus both
offensively and defensively if you are higher than your enemy
is; so remember to take the higher ground.
- If you are concerned about enemy bombers going after an
exposed unit, park a fighter over the potential target to act
as air cover.
- If possible, keep a fighter next to your bombers to act as
fighter escort, any enemy fighters attacking your bombers will
have to go through the fighter first.
- Use the Veteran Orders, the higher you promote the leaders,
the more powerful the orders and that combined with the
advantages gained by promoting to the 5+ and 8+ levels can be
overwhelming.
- Watch the attributes of your equipment. Two units may appear
to have the same ratings but one might have higher fire or
move attributes, making them more effective in the long run.
- Watch the rear areas, the AI will send battlegroups to try and
capture the objectives already in your hands. Keep a garrison
or a fire brigade (small group of friendly units) to protect
your conquests.
