This drives up energy levels dramatically. Youll feel more inspired. And youll need less sleep. I take a massage each week. This isnt an indulgence, its an investment in your full creative expression/productivity/passion and sustained good health. Do your Holy Hour. If youve read The Greatness Guide, you know about this key leadership practice. Take 60 minutes from 5am to 6am and get inspired. Read good books. Write about your hopes, goals and dreams in your journal. Read your mantras aloud. Hit the gym. Youll start feeling good and energetic. Getting up early will be effortless after this practice. I meditate. Just 30 minutes of meditation clears my mind. With less worry and more clarity, I sleep more deeply at night. Remember the 40-day rule. Any new practice will feel foreign and stressful for the !rst 40 days as you adjust. Stick to the 5am rise. Have the courage and persistence to get into this habit. After 40 days, youll have a new protocol in place, which will boost your leadership skills and give you far more happiness in all spheres of life. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Dont bring up the past. The past can hurt you over and over again unless you let it go. Nothing good can come from rehashing old, painful incidents that didnt serve you well even then. Deal with the present, resolve it and then let it go too. 14. Share your knowledge. Its a way to achieve immortality. We all have something important to contribute to humanity. If we sti"e it we will feel unful!lled and feel weve missed out on something. Sharing our unique gifts will not only help others, but it will also liberate us. 15. Be gentle with the earth. Our beautiful earth is here for our use and enjoyment, therefore, we must take good care of it. Recycle, preserve and keep it clean$ 16. Once a year, go someplace youve never been before. Visiting new places does wonders for the brain, our emotional state and perspective. It broadens our experiences and can expose us to different cultures, people and ways of doing things. Its a win/win$ 17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other. Need implies a must have for yourself, while love implies giving of yourself. Need I say more? 18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. Indeed having to work hard for a goal is more about the journey than the goal itself. True success is what you learn and develop along the way. As you will probably agree, there is little I could add to improve upon the wise words of the Dalai Lama. The above rules offer more than enough excellent advice for living life fully, nobly and happily. Practice them and live life joyfully $ -14- 7. When you realize youve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. That same pride can do you in when it comes to admitting a mistake. Do whatever it takes to correct it beginning with an apology. 8. Spend some time alone every day. This point is generally underrated by most of us. We all need time to recharge, re"ect and regroup. Not only can this change your perspective and state of mind, it can generate fresh new ideas and thinking. 9. Open your arms to change, but dont let go of your values. Indeed there is a difference between being open-minded and having a personal value system. Values are eternal while ideas are ever-changing. 10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. Silence can be the best answer when you are stuck and cannot come up with solutions. It gives you the opportunity again to regroup and think afresh. 11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, youll be able to enjoy it a second time. There is no substitute for a life well-lived. When you near the end of your life, regrets and sorrow for missed opportunities are not what you will want to be revisiting. You will want to know that you did your best with the information and knowledge you had at the time. You will also want to remember that you made the most honorable choice possible in those dif!cult moments. 12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life. A loving atmosphere includes surrounding yourself with things that make you happy such as music, books, beautiful plants and memorable, decorative objects. Your home is your sanctuary make it a meaningful, rejuvenating place. -3- HYPNOTIQUE CIRCLE, MADRAS E Mail : minddynamics@gmail.com, www.hypnotiquecircle.com Ph : 93810 34310; 91500 00615, 98400 35346, 97909 08271 40 th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS We are very happy to invite you all for the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of our Circle, founded by Prof. Rooshikumar Pandya in July 1974. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk. As I mention in many of my other articles, anything worth achieving takes much effort, application and risk. If it were that easy to accomplish great things, wed all be lauded as geniuses (genii), yet evidently, that is not the case. 2. When you lose, dont lose the lesson. We all lose at times, but if we lose the lessons offered, it becomes a real loss. As some wise person pointed out: The lesson is often in the struggle, not the victory. 3. Follow the three Rs: Respect for self Respect for others Responsibility for all your actions. I especially endorse this rule because it entails self-love and self-respect, which in turn, generates respect for others. Taking responsibility is part of the human potential movement. 4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. Sometimes what we think we want is not necessarily good for us, hence the stroke of luck$ 5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly. If you are going to break a rule, you better know what it is and why. From there you can make the conscious decision to break it for the right reasons. 6. Dont let a little dispute injure a great friendship. How many times have many of us jeopardized a wonderful relationship due to pride or hurt feelings? To throw away years of friendship and shared good and bad times over a dispute would be unfortunate. Dont do it$ -12- When the robbers got back, the younger robber (MBA trained) told the older robber (who is only primary school educated), Big Brother, lets count how much we got, the older robber rebutted and said, You very stupid, so much money, how to count, tonight TV will tell us how much we robbed from the bank$ This is called Experience - nowadays experience is more important than paper quali!cations$ After the robbers left, the bank manager told the bank supervisor to call the police quickly. The supervisor says Wait, wait wait, lets put the 5 million RMB we embezzled into the amount the robbers robbed. This is called Swim with the tide - converting an unfavorable situation to your advantage$ The supervisor says It will be good if there is a robbery every month. This is called Killing Boredom - Happiness is most important. The next day, TV news reported that 100 million RMB was taken from the bank. The robbers counted and counted and counted, but they could only count 20 million RMB. The robbers were very angry and complained We risked our lives and only took 20 million RMB, the bank manager took 80 million RMB with a snap of his !ngers. It looks like it is better to be educated than to be a thief$ This is called Knowledge is worth as much as gold $ The bank manager was smiling and happy because his loss in the CINOPEC shares are now covered by this robbery. This is called Seizing the opportunity - daring to take risks$ -5- PROGRAM SCHEDULE : Sunday, 14th July 2013 Day 2 09.30 am : Scoring Marks Is it that important in life ? Secy, NLP & TA Circle -6- 10 GREATEST LIFE LESSONS FROM ALBERT EINSTEIN Source: The Secret Achiever Formula Albert Einstein was an immortal of science who made noteworthy changes and contributions in the 20th century. He was an inspiration for the remarkable scientists subsequent to him thanks to his brilliant discoveries. Einstein received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect. Aside from his triumphant academic career, Einstein was a distinguished teacher not only to the con!nes of the classroom, but as well as to the globe. His works were indeed immortal and superior from his lessons on the subject of life. For that superiority, everybody ought to remember at least 10 quotes from him, which bring forth valuable lessons about life. Lesson 1: Cultivate a Curious Mind I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious. Do not hold back curiosity. It has a reason for its existence. Keep a questioning mind. Lesson 2: The Worth of Perseverance is Intangible Its not that Im so smart; its just that I stay with problems longer. The price of perseverance is beyond the corporeal things. It cannot be measured. It cannot be sold. It has no price. Lesson 3: Devote Attention To One Thing At A Time Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves. Do not do several tasks at once. It is in doing one task at a time that excellence is achieved. Lesson 4: Give Weight to Imagination Imagination is everything. It is the preview of lifes coming attractions. Imagination is more important than knowledge. -11- Helen Keller (author) was deaf and blind from the age of 19 months. She wrote 12 books, various motivational articles and was the !rst blind person to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree. Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder (musicians) both of whom are blind have achieved much in their respective genres of music. James Earl Jones (actor) known for his booming resonant voice was once a stutterer. Marlee Matlin (academy award-winning actress) is deaf. Itzhak Perlman (virtuoso concert violinist) has legs paralyzed from polio. Terry Fox (runner) was an amputee from cancer. As you can see from the wonderful examples above, obstacles and adversity need not stop you from accomplishing great things. If anything, courageous persistence is the one quality more than any other that can guarantee success SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY - TAKE RISKS by Ms Ananthi Karthic There was this robbery in Guangzhou, the robber shouted to everyone: All dont move, money belongs to the state, life belongs to you Everyone in the bank laid down quietly. This is called Mind Changing Concept - Changing the conventional way of thinking. One lady lay on the table provocatively, the robber shouted at her Please be civilised$ This is a robbery and not a rape$ This is called Being Professional - Focus only on what you are trained to do$ -10- up a better, more comprehensive approach. You will revise and improve the current strategy. Garner support and encouragement. Stay away from naysayers; instead seek advice from those experienced in your !eld of endeavor and those who want you to succeed. They can assist you by making suggestions and recommendations based on their experience and expertise. You will still have to do the hard work, but there is nothing more encouraging than having positive reinforcement. Maintain focus. One of the obstacles to attaining success is losing motivation and focus. A good way to maintain focus is to visualize yourself accomplishing your goal no matter what it takes. Vividly see yourself accomplishing your goal keep your eye on the prize. Likewise, avoid getting caught up in negative or unproductive thinking such as, This will never work. I cant do this. Instead, keep inspiring slogans handy, pictures of those who have persevered in life, and whatever else will motivate and boost your drive. Enjoy! The greatest feelings of accomplishment derive from knowing youve overcome obstacles and conquered adversities to achieve your goals. Your ultimate success will be exponentially more satisfying and ful!lling when you know what it took to get there. People who have persisted in spite of disabilities and obstacles: Ludwig van Beethoven (composer, pianist) became deaf at the age of 30 and composed most of his beloved works after he lost his hearing. -7- Imagination is cheaper than free. It is in imagination that one recognizes the knack one has. Lesson 5: Mistakes Are Inevitable A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new. More often than not, mistakes are stepping stones to new discoveries. It is part and parcel of living. Lesson 6: The Future is Not Ours to See I never think of the future it comes soon enough. The future is a result of the things we do today. Thinking what lies beforehand is not a bad scheme, but most of the time the present is being neglected. Lesson 7: Value is Superior to Success Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. Success is a goal worth striving for. However, creating value has an enduring effect for people to remember. Lesson 8: Change Triggers Another Result The de!nition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Different results occur when you change the way you do things. Only unwise people will expect a different result from doing the same thing over and over again. Different results will only be possible by way of change. Lesson 9: Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience Lesson 10: Understand the Basics You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. -8- HOW TO DEVELOP PERSISTENCE Decide what you want to accomplish and set goals. We all know how important setting goals is for achieving success in any endeavor, so take some time to !gure out what it is you want. Do you want to lose ten pounds, graduate from college, run a marathon or be a business success? In a study done in New York several years ago researchers surprisingly found that people who set clear, concise goals succeeded in achieving them 95% of the time$ Interestingly, the one caveat or stipulation was that they only achieved their goals if they refused to quit and continued to bounce back from dif!culties along the way. Prepare for Obstacles and Setbacks. Know and accept that there will be obstacles and setbacks; then prepare for them. Nothing important was ever accomplished without adversity, setbacks and dif!culties to contend with along the way. Henry Ford went bankrupt three times before he managed to design his !rst automobile. As we all know and are grateful for, he subsequently succeeded to become one of the richest men in the world. He said: Failure is merely an opportunity to more intelligently begin again. Thomas Edison is said to have tried 10,000 times to create the light bulb before he succeeded. His attitude was: I have not failed. Ive just found 10,000 ways that dont work. Persistence is de!nitely the difference between a successful outcome and a failed one due to giving up. One of the ways you can prepare for setbacks and obstacles is to anticipate potential problems and have a contingency plan. For example, if youre trying to lose weight, you must know that there will be occasions when its not possible to stick to your weight loss regimen. In such cases, you will need to prepare alternative meals ahead of time or be mentally prepared to deviate from your regimen. -9- Unfortunately, instead of allowing for and being prepared in such situations, many people give up entirely declaring it impossible to stick to any diet. In doing so, they often sabotage all healthy eating and give up in despair. Another example would be endeavoring to become a marathon runner and you fail on your !rst attempt at !nishing a marathon. Should you give up and never try again? No, not at all$ You would have to !gure out where you may have miscalculated your !tness level, the type of food you ate and your training patterns. After doing some research to !nd out how to improve, you would then give it another whirl$ Also keep in mind that when we are overwhelmed with a problem or dif!culty, we dont have time then to develop the persistence necessary to deal with the particular obstacle or set back. However, if we plan in advance for lifes inevitable ups and downs, we will be psychologically ready when they come upon us. Take the "rst step. You cannot persevere; much less succeed, if you never try to accomplish something. So many of us procrastinate, fear failure or are too frozen in our tracks to take the !rst step towards achievement. You will not fail if you dont try something, however, you will never succeed either. As the popular saying goes, The only real failure in life is the failure to try. Review, reevaluate and revise. If things do not work out the way you hoped then review the steps you took and the process you followed. Reevaluate by examining what went wrong and where. What didnt work? What could you have done better? Did you have all the necessary skills and tools? Your !ndings will be most illuminating, and in turn, allow you to set
