68 1 02 03 Other References 1 03 Definitions Note: The following description of terms is mainly based on IEC 60598 Part 1: General Requirements and tests. 1 03 01 Technical Terms Where the terms "Voltage " and "Current " are used, they imply the (r.m.s.) values unless otherwise stated. air handling luminaire A luminaire through some part of which air is supplied to or extracted from the interior of the building. ballast - A unit inserted between the supply and one or more discharge lamps which by means of inductance, capacitance or resistance, single or in combination, limits the current of the lamp(s) to the required value. Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of Contract and Section 01300 1 05 01 Product Data Product Data shall include lamp data, details of construction and luminaire lighting distribution (polar diagrams if available) for each type of luminaire to be installed. The contractor shall submit all technical data (i.e. erection obligations, slot sizes and flow rates for air handling luminaires etc.).
1 05 02 Shop Drawings Shop drawings shall contain location (layout) of luminaires, lighting level, the code of protection (suitability of luminaire for use in the location designed) and controlling equipment. 1 05 03 Samples 01 0 The contractor shall supply at least one sample of each type of luminaire, to be approved by the supervision engineer before installation. Samples shall enclose product data documents. 02 0 Where a luminaire is included as a part of an integrated ceiling system, a sample of the system including the luminaire shall be installed for inspection and approval. 1 05 04 Quality Control Submittals Documented experience of Contractors site supervisor(s) (see ref. 1 06 01 02) Certificates for all elements indicated showing compliance with referenced Standards and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction 1 05 04 01 Test Reports and Certificates Test Reports and/or Certificates shall be submitted to certify that the luminaire complies with Saudi standards and/or international standards. Contractors site supervisor(s) shall have knowledge of referenced standards and at least five (5) years of documented experience. 1 06 02 Regulatory Requirements Note: Specify obligations to comply with specific code requirements for Contractor designed items and other requirements of public authorities if any! 1 06 03 Certifications Provide certificates issued by either the manufacturer or an authorised and independent agency or independent laboratory, showing that each type of luminaire has been tested and complies with relevant standards. 1 06 04 Quality Control 1 06 04 01 Internal Quality Control Contractors internal quality control shall include, checking that suppliers test certificates and certificates of compliance conform to specification and referenced standards prior to assembly or installation. 72 2 Part 2: Products. Note: Luminaires shall be specified in detail by the specifier in the drawings and B.o.Q. In general specifications do not describe products that might then exclude suitable types. By Government policy the specifier shall not specify a product by name and model number, however he must give sufficient detail to enable luminaires to be chosen. 2 01 Lamps Lamps and lamp containers shall be legibly and durably marked with manufactures name and/or trademark, country of origin, the rated wattage, rated colour and the class of the lamp. The manufacturers installation recommendations concerning permissible lamp positions shall be followed. Lamps in general shall comply with IEC 61231, international lamp coding system (ILCOS). 2 01 01 Incandescent Lamps In general lamps with tungsten filament (Incandescent) shall comply with IEC 60630. 2 01 01 01 Tungsten Filament Lamp (Ordinary Incandescent Lamp) Incandescent lamps with tungsten filament for domestic and general lighting purposes shall comply with IEC 60064 and 60432. 2 01 01 02 Tungsten Halogen Lamps Tungsten halogen lamps for floodlights and spotlights shall comply with IEC 60357 and 60432-2. 2 01 02 Fluorescent Lamps Tubular fluorescent lamps for general lighting service (GLS) shall comply with SASO 138 and 139. 73 2 01 03 04 Metal Halide Lamps Metal halide lamps shall comply with IEC 61167. 2 01 04 Lamp Caps and Holders Lamp caps and lamp holders shall be of suitable material, resistant to corrosion. The cap shall be attached firmly to the tube or the bulb and shall be capable to withstand the normal operational temperature. Lamp caps and holders shall comply with IEC 60061- 4. 2 01 04 01 Lamp Caps Lamp caps shall comply with IEC 60061-1. 2 01 04 02 Lampholders Lampholders in general, shall comply with the IEC 60061-2 and 60838-1. Bayonet Lampholders for general use shall comply with SASO 233 and 234, and IEC 611184. Lampholders for linear incandescent lamps shall comply with IEC 60838-2. Screw Lampholders shall comply with IEC 60238 and 60399. Lampholders for tubular fluorescent lamps shall comply with IEC 60400. 2 02 Lamp Auxiliaries 2 02 01 Ballasts All ballasts shall be integrated power factor corrected with integrated temperature protection. The temperature rating shall be at least Tw 130/55/125 degree C (annex part 6 table No. 5). Ballasts shall prevent visible lamp flicker. The power factor correction shall be not less than 0.95. 2 02 01 01 Ballasts for Fluorescent Lamps. Ballasts for fluorescent lamps shall comply with SASO 507 and 508, and IEC 60920 and 60921. Sheet metal enclosed ballasts shall be with a protection code of IP 20, (see annex 6 table No1) and the coil shall be cast-resin impregnated. A.C. supplied electronic ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps shall comply with SASO standard (1489) with IEC standard (60928 and 60929). D.C. supplied electronic ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps shall comply with SASO standard (1488) and with IEC standard (60924 and 60925). Electronic fluorescent controllable ballasts shall be capable of dimming down to 10%, and enable lamps to start at any light level without first flashing to full light. 2 02 01 02 Ballasts for Discharge Lamps Ballasts for discharge lamps shall comply with the general and safety requirement of SASO 1491 and 1492, and IEC 60704, 60922 and 60923. Ballasts for high-pressure mercury vapour lamps shall comply with SASO 691 and 692. Ballasts for discharge lamps can be used in combination with an external igniter. Integrated ballasts shall be used for discharge lamps that include the ballast coil and the power factor correcting capacitor in a sheet metal enclosure with a protection code of IP 53(see annex 6 table No3). The coil shall be cast-resin impregnated. The ballast shall have three taps for voltage adjustment. 2 02 02 Starters Starters for tubular fluorescent lamps shall provide flicker free ignition. Glow starters for tubular fluorescent lamps with pre-heated cathode shall comply with SASO 146 and 147. Starting devices (other than glow starters) shall comply with SASO 1493 and 1494, and IEC 60926 and 60927. 74 Starters for fluorescent lamps shall have the range from 18 W to 65 W with an ignition temperature range from 20 to +80 degrees C. Electronic starters are preferred for tubular fluorescent lamps. 2 02 03 Capacitors Capacitors for fluorescent lamps shall comply with IEC 61048 and 61049. The capacitor terminals shall be of snap-type connectors. 2 03 Luminaires Luminaires shall comply with the general requirement of SASO 1318 and IEC 60598- 1 and 60598- 2. Luminaires shall be protected against entry of dust and water according to their location. The quoted degree of protection for luminaires shall comply with SASO 980 and IEC 529. See annex 6, tables 1,2, and 3. 2 03 01 Fluorescent Luminaires 2 03 01 01 General The housing shall have sufficient knockouts for convenient mounting by normal methods, either on wall or ceiling. The housing shall contain security device to prevent lamp dropout due to shock or vibration. All metal parts of the housing shall be connected to an earthing close to the power connection terminal. Frames and socket plates shall be of suitable heavy material, formed and braced to hold lamp sockets firmly in place during relamping. All brackets, clips, spacers etc. necessary for proper installation shall be furnished as part of the luminaire. Seams shall be constructed to prevent light leakage. Reflectors, where fitted, shall be of high reflectivity and shall be securely connected to the luminaire body, but shall be removable for access to the control gear and wiring without the use of tools other than a screwdriver. Louvers, and diffusers shall be of precision fit or gasketed to prevent light leakage. Louvers shall be easily removable without the use of tools and shall be held in the closed position without external projection. 2 03 01 02 Recess -mounted Luminaires Recess-mounted luminaires shall be made suitable for use with various ceiling systems by modifying the fastening device only. Recess-mounted lighting fixtures with open louvres shall have a protection code of at least IP 20 (see annex 6 table No 1), and fixtures with diffusers shall have a protection code of at least IP 40 (see annex 6 table No 2). 2 03 01 03 Surface-mounted Luminaires Surface-mounted luminaires shall be made from one piece, and solid along their entire length. Lighting fixtures with open louvres shall have a protection code of at least IP 20 (see annex 6 table No1), and fixtures with diffusers shall have a protection code of at least IP 40 (see annex 6 table No 2). Lighting fixtures for installation in wet or outside locations shall have a protection code of at least IP 55 (see annex 6 table No 4). 2 03 01 04 Air Handling Luminaires The supply and exhaust air hoods shall be thermally insulated. Luminaires shall comply with IEC (60598-2-19). 2 03 02 Incandescent or Discharge Luminaires 2 03 02 01 General The housing shall be of corrosion resistant finish, heatproof and ventilated. The luminaire housing shall be furnished with tapped holes to facilitate direct conduit entry, which shall be provided with threaded plugs. Materials and accessories, whether specifically mentioned or not, shall be of the highest grade of manufacture and equal in every respect to the highest commercial standard. 75 Wiring for incandescent lighting shall be heatproof with a minimum temperature rating of 150 degrees C. Gaskets shall be heatproof and provided for weathertight operation. Lamp base sockets shall be porcelain. 2 03 02 02 Recessed Luminaires (Downlights) Recessed Luminaires shall comply with IEC standard (60598-2-2). Relamping shall be possible without removing the unit. 2 03 02 03 Wall or Ceiling-mounted Luminaires Luminaires for wall and ceiling mounting shall be carefully tested to ensure local heating of ceiling and wall finishes cannot cause damage. 2 03 02 04 Floodlight Luminaires Floodlight luminaires shall comply with IEC standard (60598-2-5). The housing construction shall be designed for maximum heat dissipation. The fixture shall be adjustable horizontally and vertically. The socket shall be made of high-temperature, metal encased, spring-located porcelain. 2 03 02 05 Portable Luminaires Portable luminaires shall be equal in every respect to the highest commercial standard. Portable luminaires shall be vandal resistance, water repellant, vibration and shock resistant. Portable luminaires shall comply with IEC standards (60598-2-4) Portable luminaires for garden use shall comply with IEC standards (60598-2-7). 2 03 02 06 Stage-lighting Fittings Luminaires including stage lighting, spot and floodlighting projectors shall comply with IEC 598-2-17. 2 03 02 07 Step Lights Step lights shall be provided by light control louvers with a suitable angle depending on step height and depth. 2 03 02 08 Exit and Emergency Luminaires Emergency Luminaires shall conform to IEC 60598-2-22. Exit and emergency luminaires, either temporary or for continuous work shall be of incandescent type, or instant start fluorescent type. All wiring shall be with a minimum temperature rating of 150 degrees C and shall be concealed in the wireway of the luminaire. Exit signs shall be of ceramic, fired glass, acrylic plastic or fiberglass and shall have white letters on a red or green background. Letters, with or without arrows, shall be a minimum of 150 mm high with 20-mm stroke. All signs shall be inserted in lightproof slides, frames, or hinged doors. Hinges, where used, shall be concealed. All ferrous metal parts shall be treated with a rust inhibitor after fabrication and prior to the application of the finish coat. A test switch shall be provided to test the unit. Exit and emergency luminaire shall be: - .0 Self-powered exit and emergency luminaire. Self-powered luminaire shall have at least 1 hour of emergency operation, a solid state fully automatic charger and at least two low voltage high-brightness bulbs. 76 2 04 Lighting Poles 2 04 01 General The complete assembly of the lighting fixtures consisting of the pole, luminaires and bracket arms shall be designed for dead loads imposed and theoretical dynamic loads of pressure developed by maximum wind velocities expected at the site. Poles with a length of 15 m and more above finished floor or ground level shall be provided either with climbing irons starting 2 m above ground and extending to the position of the luminaire or other suitable means for servicing the luminaires at ground level. Each pole shall be equipped with a cable connection box for two incoming armoured cables up to 4 35 mm, equipped with two fuse sockets for fuses up to 63 Amp. The cable box of protection code IP 55 (see annex Part 6 table No 4)., see (annex 6 table 4) shall be installed inside the pole behind a lockable handhole opening which shall be located approximately 600 mm above F.F.L. An earthing lug for the connection of a separate earthing conductor shall be suitably installed near the cable box. Lighting poles shall be: - .0 Steel complying with the SASO standard (1495). Steel lighting poles shall be painted with one coat primer and two finishing coats. .0 Hot dip galvanized steel complying with the SASO standard (1495). .0 Aluminium .0 Fibreglass reinforced Polyester complying with SASO standard (533). 2 04 02 Poles with Flange Plates The base assembly of these poles shall consist of a base plate, of suitable dimension, welded to the shaft tube. A minimum of four hot-dipped galvanized high-tensile steel anchor bolts, with square levelling nuts, hexagonal hold-down bolts, flat and lock washers shall be capable of withstanding full bending moment of the shaft at its yield strength stress. The base plate shall have a 100-mm wide opening with gasketed edge for cable penetration from the concrete foundation. 2 04 03 Earth-embedded Poles These poles shall be embedded in earth for not less than 1/6 of their entire length. The depth shall depend upon local soil conditions and be approved by the Engineer. Poles shall have a cable opening approximately 800 mm below F.F.L, sufficient for two armoured cables of up to 4x35 mm2 to the cable connection box. Poles shall be bitumen-coated against corrosion for the length embedded in the ground, extending to approximately 300 mm above F.F.L. 2 04 04 Poles Foundations The foundation for poles depends on the type of poles, fixtures and soil condition and shall be designed according to section 03300. The stability of lighting pole foundations shall be proved by a structural calculation before execution of the foundation.. The foundations shall be provided with conduits for cable penetration to the pole (see section 16050). 2 04 05 Floodlight Towers Floodlight towers shall be of galvanized steel or steel with protective coating. They shall be equipped with a cable connection box, of protection class IP 55 (see annex 6 table No 4), for two incoming supply cables, with fuse sockets for fuses up to 63 A. Floodlight poles carrying more than two luminaires shall be provided with a suitable service platform including a safety basket. 77 The cable box shall be installed inside the mast behind a lockable handhole. An earth terminal shall be provided near the cable box for connection of a separate earthing conductor. Floodlight towers shall be mounted on a concrete foundation by means of a base plate welded to the mast tube and a minimum of four hot-dipped galvanized high-tensile steel anchor bolts. The, base plate shall have an opening not less than 100 x 100 mm with gasketed edges for supply cables from the mast foundation. 78 3 Part 3: Execution 3 01 General Examination Lamps, luminaire and lighting poles shall be examined before installation. They shall be free from any defects (e.g. on housing, painting, etc.) and shall be in first class operating order. 3 02 General Preparation 3 03 Installations 3 03 01 General Lighting fixtures shall be installed in an approved workmanlike manner, according to manufacturers recommendations. Fixings, which carry the weight of the luminaire and internal accessories, shall be provided with means to prevent the dislodgement of any part of the luminaire by vibration, either in service or during maintenance. 3 03 02 Surface Mounted Fixtures Continuous rows of fixtures shall be installed so as to provide perfect alignment, and shall have no gaps between fixture items, trim and adjacent items. 3 03 03 Recessed Mounted Luminaire Recessed mounted luminaires shall be lodged properly and have no gaps between edges and the false ceiling. 3 03 04 Lighting Poles Poles shall be aligned vertically and shall be properly fastened to their foundations. Earth-embedded poles shall be provided with a corrosion protection tape approximately 200 mm above and below the ground level. 3 04 Field Quality Control All fixtures and equipment shall be complete with the required glassware, reflectors, side panels, louvres or other necessary components. Upon completion of the installation, the lighting fixtures shall be in a perfect condition, free from defects and shall be energised for testing as required by relevant IEC standards. 3 05 Adjusting and Cleaning 3 06 Demonstration Note: State requirements to demonstrate operation and maintenance of equipment to the employer's personnel including special training if required. 3 07 Protection 3 08 Schedules Note: Include schedules (e.g. door schedule) to indicate what to put where, and provide other co-ordinating data if necessary !
