DESCRIPCIN
La presente asignatura hace parte del ncleo de formacin fundamental. Comprender y dominar los
presupuestos bsicos de las teoras tradicionales de la disciplina es esencial para el desempeo analtico
general del internacionalista y el politlogo. Las teoras y enfoques presentados se valen de los conceptos
bsicos en relaciones internacionales y de la historia de la evolucin del sistema internacional para poder
abordar el anlisis de los mecanismos de causalidad de los diferentes casos y coyunturas de las
relaciones internacionales. El curso se divide en tres partes. La primera parte es introductoria y revisa la
epistemologa y conceptos clave del desarrollo terico de la disciplina; la segunda aborda las teoras
fundamentales de manera conceptual y analtica y la tercera presenta las propuestas crticas a la visin
tradicional as como los debates metodolgicos de la disciplina.
OBJETIVOS
Proporcionar los fundamentos de los enfoques tericos clsicos de Relaciones internacionales y abordar
la indagacin y explicacin del funcionamiento del sistema internacional. Al terminar el curso estarn en
capacidad de distinguir los presupuestos conceptuales que identifican las principales escuelas de
pensamiento, su aplicabilidad y sus alcances y limitaciones metodolgicas.
METODOLOGA
Para cada sesin los estudiantes debern leer el material asignado y discutir los aspectos fundamentales
con la gua del profesor. Se programarn exposiciones, talleres y relatoras grupales de estudio de caso.
Todo producto escrito deber presentarse de acuerdo al formato proporcionado al inicio de curso.
