News and Prayer Letter August 2014

Whats in a Name?
A lot! Weve been ministering in Brookline now for a year. Weve met a lot of people over the last 12
months. We have been patiently waiting on Him to open doors. Although we have not yet formally
established ourselves as a church, we have begun laying the groundwork. After much prayer, our team
decided it was time to put a name with our face. We wanted a name that captured our vision for this
neighborhood and this city. We wanted a name that captured the message of the Gospel, and the result
of the Gospels work in people. The Gospel is a message about restoration. Through the Gospel,
marriages, homes, and neighborhoods can be restored. God, through the Gospel, will restore creation to
its original intent Creator God ruling and reigning perfectly over His creation. We want to see sinful
individuals find restoration to God in Jesus Christ. Restoration Baptist Church captures that vision. This
allows us to have a more visible presence in the community as we continue to grow our core group. Visit
us at our website www.restorationpgh.com and like us on Facebook and Twitter.

Community outreach
Last month, we requested prayer for continued in-roads to the community. Well, keep praying. We were
able to connect a few dots and for the month of August we will supply popcorn for the kids movie night
that the city of Pittsburgh puts on at Brookline Park. We will have 4 weeks to serve the community and
let them know who we are. This will be our first public outreach to the community so please pray that
God might use this in a positive way to introduce ourselves to many within the community we have not
met. We received a very positive reception to this idea from the park director, which was a credit to the
relationships that have been built with park staff. Pray for good weather and good contacts.

We also mentioned the desire to reach out to some of the different ethnic groups in the area. The Lord
opened a door for Dennis to begin talking to 2 men from Libya while playing basketball. He has talked
with them two other times in the last couple of weeks. They are very friendly, but there is a bit of a
language barrier. Pray for Gospel conversations to come through this. We were able to order some
Arabic and Spanish tracts to use, which we are hoping will help open opportunities.

Continue to pray for Dennis Muslim friend. Dennis has been pressing home the need understand our
personal sin before a holy God. There have been times where this has caused our friend to remain silent.
He darkness is still there and every so often he makes sure he expresses his belief in Allah, who is one
(meaning Jesus is not God). Keep him in fervent prayer is you think of him.

Family changes
At the end of the month, Avalon will start Kindergarten. This is a very exciting time for her (and us), yet
we are nervous for her. Our continual prayer is that she would be a leader in her class. She has said to us,
I hope I can be a testimony at school. We have seen her learn much about Gods Word over the past 5
years, and it is time for her to use it. Pray for her as she starts on the 28
th
, and pray that we might be able
to get involved at the school. We dont want to remain on the sidelines, but be an active participant.

We value your support and prayers in ways you probably dont realize. Thank you!
