The Jozi Book Fair 2014 theme is Reading the word and the

world: the role of book clubs. The aim of the Jozi Book Fair (JBF)
is to promote a reading and writing culture through develop-
ing a movement of amongst others, readers, writers, progres-
sive publishers and the public, who are committed to a social
justice agenda.
The JBF 2013 was well received: about 2 500 people attended
100 events at the Fair, including schools and childrens
activities, workshops, seminars, book launches and exhibitions.
Exhibitors included publishers, self-publishers and ngos; and
events were hosted by civil society (70%) and the JBF (30%);
in English, Swedish, Swahili and indigenous Southern African
languages.
