August is National Immunization Awareness Month
Immunizations are not just for kids. All adults should get vaccines to protect
their health. Even healthy adults can become seriously ill, and can pass cer-
tain illnesses on to others. Immunization is especially important for adults 60
years of age and older, and for those who have a chronic condition such as
asthma, COPD, diabetes or heart disease.

Immunization is also important for anyone who is in close contact with the
very young, the very old, people with weakened immune systems, and those
who cannot be vaccinated.

All adults should get:

Influenza (flu) vaccine: Each year to protect against the seasonal flu.
Td or Tdap: Every adult should get the Tdap vaccine once if they did
not receive it as an adolescent to protect against pertussis (whooping
cough), and then a Td (tetanus, diphtheria) booster shot every 10 years.
In addition, women are also recommended to get the Tdap vaccine each
time they are pregnant, preferably at 27 through 36 weeks.

The need for other adult vaccines such as shingles, pneumococcal, hepatitis,
HPV depends on ones age, occupation, travel, health status, and other risk
factors. Visit www.nphic.org/niam for more information.

Spectrum offers flu shots to all employees in the fall, notice will be given when they are
available.

Jane has been a resident at St. Cloud
Carefree Living for 11 years.

Residents, families and staff
enjoyed an Antique Car Show on
July 18, 2014.

It is now August. Hard to believe
another summer will soon come to
an end.

Following my June newsletter arti-
cle regarding employee engage-
ment and the affect disengaged
employees have on their co-
workers, customers and to the
organization, each branch and
housing community had the opportunity to partici-
pate in a listening session. Based on the feedback
received, we will look for themes on a site and com-
pany wide basis to enhance programs, policies and
training opportunities for employees, supervisors,
residents and clients.

Additionally, throughout August and September, we
will complete client and resident satisfaction surveys
in each of our branch and housing communities. No
matter your role, each of you can directly impact
satisfaction levels by maintaining high personal and
professional standards as outlined in our core values
of Integrity, Commitment, and Excellence!

As summer winds down, I want to remind you that
there is still time to take advantage of the cabin up in
Ely at our Lakeside property. Contact the main
Eveleth office for availability and further infor-
mation. This is just one way we are able to pass our
appreciation on to you, through the free use of this
lodging.

Thank you all for your continued dedication and
commitment to the clients and residents you serve.
Each of you helps us to sustain operations and pro-
vide excellent services to those we care for. Our
high level of customer satisfaction and operational
achievements would not be possible without our
Home Care, Assisted Living and Corporate staff.
You make the difference.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
THANK YOU THE KITCHEN STAFF
We have one month behind us now, and no major problems have come to cause me any great concern. I
must admit that I was very concerned coming here. The end results from geting wheat in my diet are no
fun. Even just the dust of four in the air can cause me big time problems. I am so thankful for the way you
all have worked to make my stay here as enjoyable as it has been. I have no complaints with the food or
service; I thank you all for the work that you are puting into my stay here. I realize that my diet is a real
burr under the saddle and can cause pressure points which can lead to big time feuds. I hope not, Ill be
doing my best to keep the air breathable. AGAIN I SAY THANK YOU TO THE KITCHEN STAFF.
