Faculty Development Program

Faculty development programs should not be created as separate entities,

but should become part of the culture of the college. A comprehensive
orientation program and ongoing mentoring (formal or informal) are
needed to facilitate a smooth transition for new faculty into the academy.
While clearly important for junior faculty, such programs are important
throughout a faculty members career. A variety of faculty development
program formats have been described, but most program formats include
an initial orientation

An ideal faculty development program would be a multidimensional
process that develops the needed and desired abilities throughout faculty
members careers using standardized and individualized activities.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The main objective of the FDP is promoting values and nurturing culture
that facilitates academic and professional development of teachers. We
need to rejuvenate our education system for faculty enhancement. The
major focus of FDP is to upgrade the teaching, training and content
development skills of participants. The programme enables the
participants to develop competence to understand recent advancement in
teaching methodology, pedagogies, effective presentation techniques, and
behavioral skills to be an effective faculty.

In general, a comprehensive faculty development program can be divided
into three major process elements:
1) Comprehensive orientation program;
2) Mentoring; and
3) Ongoing development of specific abilities
