MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 103- 105; 1 Cori nt hi ans 11
Monday, August 18
Mat t . 14: 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to
sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
Dear Heavenly Father:
Sinking times should be seeking times. Help me keep an eye out for that
person today who is nearest rock bottom. I know some who are in hours of pain,
and physical anguish. They find themselves driven to prayer just naturally, even if
they are unbelievers. Lord, let me lead them to the mercy-seat for safety.
Heavens great shelter from the storm of life is Jesus Christ. Thousands of
weather-beaten lives have found their haven there. Help me by your Holy Spirit
to lead them to him at the time their storm comes.
EVEN A SHORT WITNESS IS LONG ENOUGH. Not length but strength is
needed. I want to be fervent and intense about the realities and verities of faith. A
sense of need is a mighty convincer of spiritual reality. Give __________ and
__________ that sense of need for salvation today. If my testimony had less tail
feathers of pride and more wings of witness, it would work better. Wordiness is
to the gospel like chaff is to wheat. Help me lead them directly straight to Jesus.
THEIR EXTREMITY IS THE GOSPELS OPPORTUNITY. A sense of danger can
immediately force a cry for help. Jesus, your heart follows what your ears hear. I
thank you that your hand does not delay to save everyone who will trust in your
grace. At the moment they appeal, your swift Spirit takes instant action.
Who is nearly drowned by the flood of affliction? Let me lift their soul to
the Savior I pray, for he will not allow them to die. When I cannot do anything
else for them, Jesus can do all things. I pray now God to enlist your powerful aid
on my side. Make it well with our souls through the cross. I ask this because of
the travail of your Son Jesus on the cross, Amen.
TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 106- 108; 1 Cori nt hi ans 12
Tuesday, August 19
Luke 22: 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it
were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Heavenly Lord:
! Being in an agony, you mean for me to see how sin changed everything
about you into sorrow
! Being in an agony, it turned all your riches of deity into poverty
! Being in an agony, it turned your peace into tribulation
! Being in an agony, it turned your glory into shame
Gethsemane, as a place of prayer, was once a peaceful retreat. Sweet
devotion brought you into communion with the Father. My sin transformed that
garden paradise into the focus of your sorrow, and the center of your woe.
When I am sick I like to lie down in my own bed. So you chose to endure
your agony in your own prayer closet. Let me do the same! Make the griefs I
endure also be counterbalanced by the peace of purity, the calm of fellowship,
and the joy of ministry. Thank you for letting me see your sorrow when you
stood where I should have been standing.
I know what it is to be very heavy, not finding words for explanation. When
deep depression comes over me, when I forget everything that could sustain my
spirit, and I sink down into despair. Then I can sympathize with you, my Lord
Jesus. Others think me foolish, call me nervous, or tell me to cheer myself up.
They do not know the case. If they understood, they would not mock me with
impossible admonitions. Let me simply follow your sterling example: he prayed
more earnestly. Let me do so when I am overwhelmed with woe. Then my sadness
will have at least that one worthwhile effect. I know the sweetness of
fellowship with you only in similar sufferings. Amen.
WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 109- 111; 1 Cori nt hi ans 13
Wednesday, August 20
Ps a. 50: 16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my
statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
Sanctifying God:
There is nary a grain of holiness on the entire planet unless it is a work of
the Holy Spirit. Scoffers completely despise hypocrites who live inconsistent lives
that contradict their verbal testimonies. The witness of unholy men or women is
no more acceptable to you Lord, than the homage demons paid you when in your
earthly ministry. That is why you told them, Hold thy peace.
An unholy life makes it so you can not do many mighty works there (Matt.
13:58). That is why for revival, I need the Spirit of God. I dare not go out and
battle with sin until I have put on the armor of the Spirit. Mountains of sin will
not be cast into the sea unless you, blessed Spirit, make the word effective. Give
me a spirit of holiness by filling me with your Holy Spirit.
Eph. 6: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching
thereunto
Watching! Give me also a spirit of supplication by your Spirit. I cannot
have revival without praying for revival, but I need a spirit of prayer to make
my revival praying effective. You will not show your power unless I entreat you,
but all acceptable pleading is only brought to my soul by the Spirit of Christ. You
will not accept any desire that has not been excited and instigated in my heart by
the secret work of your Spirit.
Prayer is spiritual, so prayer is the creation of your Spirit. I cannot do
without prayer, but I cannot pray unless your Spirit groans with me and within
me. Hence my desperate dependence on you! I depend on you in prayer, and I
depend on the Holy Spirit to help me pray right now. Give us revival. Amen.
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 112- 114; 1 Cori nt hi ans 14
Thursday, August 21
Rev. 19: 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is
called The Word of God.
JESUS shall reign whereer the sun does his successive journeys run;
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, till moons shall wax and wane no more.
Behold the islands with their kings, and Europe her best tribute brings;
From north to south the princes meet, to pay their homage at His feet.

To Him shall endless prayer be made, and praises throng to crown His head;
His Name like sweet perfume shall rise with every morning sacrifice.
Great God, whose universal sway the known and unknown worlds obey,
Now give the kingdom to Thy Son, extend His power, exalt His throne.

Blessings abound wherever He reigns; the prisoner leaps to lose his chains;
The weary find eternal rest, and all the sons of want are blessed.
The saints shall flourish in His days, dressed in the robes of joy and praise;
Peace, like a river, from His throne shall flow to nations yet unknown.

The scepter well becomes His hands; all Heavn submits to His commands;
His justice shall avenge the poor, and pride and rage prevail no more.
With power He vindicates the just, and treads thoppressor in the dust:
His worship and His fear shall last till hours, and years, and time be past.

Isaac Watts, 1719

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 115- 117; 1 Cori nt hi ans 15
Friday, August 22
Ps a. 1: 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth
his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Lord of Life and Light:
We ask for strength both to bear, and to be, and to do. In seasons of ebola
we ask for health to keep serving you. In seasons of trouble we ask for
deliverance. As soon as we are aware of guilt we ask forgiveness, and for a fresh
application of the blood of Jesus Christ! This is the way to emotional health.
Bless our church and our missionaries more and more. Make this a time of
fruitfulness. Oh what riches you have given in the past! When I look back on the
months and years, what a wondrous thing you have wrought. You should not be
without our song. Even when we are not feeling as good as we should, and our
voice is broken and cracked, it shall not be silent. If every harp string is broken
but one, we will still resound the love of Jesus and redound the glory of God.
As long as we live, let us bless you. Help us divorce our soul from the
kingdom of thingdom and cares of this life, and marry it only to Jesus. All we
need is him in order to be content. This is the way to relieve anxiety attacks.
Reveal yourself to us. Lift up the veil and draw us nearer to you. Since we
are raised up together with Christ, grant us a glimpse of your glory in our lives.
Give it to each one of our missionaries as well. Give it to our pastors. Give it to
the ministry leaders in our church.
Bless our country at this time of recovery. In your infinite mercy preserve
us through good leadership. Let peace reign so the gospel can spread. Give us
wisdom for foolishness, and strength where wisdom reigns. And make a way for
the growth of our church at the same time you make a way for the progress of
the gospel in our city. For we ask it all in Jesus name and stead. Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 118- 120; 1 Cori nt hi ans 16
Saturday, August 23
Ps a. 85: 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down
from heaven.
Holy Father:
I have looked for a key verse that would describe this summera theme
verse I would choose if I were looking back over the last six months, and
anticipating the next.
It was ultimate condescension that brought the Savior down to the cross. It
is equal condescension that brings your mighty Spirit of grace down to live in an
unruly, wild asses colt like myself, and to make me know in experience the
wonders of a Saviors love.
How much you have shown us your love in two years! How much you have
shown your love in cherishing me in all my hurts, in assisting me in all my work,
and in comforting me in all my frustrations. All these things are works of the
Spirit of God alone.
What shall I pray about for fall? Send revival! When every other comfort
fails, when the promise itself seems empty, when the ministry is devoid of power,
it is then that your Spirit can fill my heart with peace and joy in believing. He is
the assistance of my faith. Send him in abundance on my life and on our church.
Send him!
How many times was my heart wounded but the Spirit bound it up? How
often has he who is my Teacher also become my Physician, bandaging my breaks
with Gods promises, and returning my own spirit to health and wholeness in
believing? Be that to many of us at once in revival!
Let this mid-year review move me to love. Let it spur me on to next-level
love. Let me be characterized by love given as thanks for the past. Amen.

HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

1) TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.

2) TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

3) TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS
! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)
! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

PRAYER DIARY

# INTERCEDE WITH GOD # INSTRUCT SAINTS
# PROMPT PETITIONS # KICKSTART DEVOTION

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
