TAMIL NADU PUBLIC BUILDINGS(LICENSING) ACT 1965 (XIII OF 1965)

All public building shall be used only under a valid licence obtained from the
Competent Authority as per Tamil Nadu Public Buildings (Licensing) Act 1965.
Public Building means any building used as a
1. School (including a tutorial School) or College (including a tutorial College) or
University or other educational institution.
2. Hostel
3. Library.
4. Hospital, nursing home, dispensary, clinic or maternity centre.
5. Club, Association Building.
6. Lodging house, boarding house or hotel or
7. Choultry, business premises.
8. Worshipping Places.
9. Ordinarily used for public meetings or for celebrating marriage functions for or
holding parties.
10. All Building used by Public.
The owner who intends to use any building as a public building shall apply in the
form prescribed (Form A) to the Competent Authority for a licence. The application shall
be accompanied by a certificate of structural soundness in Form B obtained from a
Licensed Engineer.

(Form of certificate of structural soundness under sub-section (4) of section 4 of the Tamil Nadu
Public Buildings (Licensing) Act, 1965
(Tamil Nadu Act 13 of 1965 ) refered in rule 4 of the Tamil Nadu Public Buildings (Licensing)
Rules, 1966.)

I certify that I have inspected the building mentioned in the statement and furnish below its
salient technical features :

(1) Foundation :

(iv) Probable save bearing capacity of the strata met with at foundation.

loading standards 875 (Latest version) and other relevant Indian Standards Code of Practice and I
