A commercial pilot as we all know is an airplane pilot who transports mail, passengers or flies the
plane for other commercial purposes. Hence, a Commercial Pilot License is issues to all
commercial pilots which acts as a legal proof and permits the holder to fly an airplane and get
allowences for his services.
According to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), one needs to meet certain basic
requirements inorder to obtain the license. Firstly, the applicant must have a good hold over
English language, and be able to read, write and understand it. Secondly, he/she should have a
Private Pilot License at disposal. Thirdly, the applicant must have received proper ground training
at some flight academy under the team of expertise instructors. Fourthly, the applicant should
have successfully completed the theoritical papers- Air Navigation, Aircraft Engines, Aviation
Meteorolgy, Air Regulations and Seamanship. Lastly, he/she should acquire first-class medical
certification and should have a 200 hours flying experience.

Also, the Joint Aviation Authorities have several authorized courses for issuing a CPL with an
instrument rating without even obtaining a Private Pilot's License. After being done with the
proviso, applicant receives an exam from the governing aviation body that comprises of both oral
and practical flight test. They should also have an experience of atleast 300 nm flight solo with
landings at two airfields other than the indigenious field.
There is a major category of aircrafts to which differrnt types of CPL are issued, i.e., airplane,
airships, helicopters, etc. There are a number of demarcations or ratings that the license
contains, one of them being specification of the type of aircraft that can be flown.
Thousands of CPL training institutes are stationed all over the world. BBFA with its base in Canada
offers an 8 months CPL training programme. After fetching the CPL, a person can apply with any
airlines and begin working as a trainee. He is further trained on simulators, after which he/she
can begin working as a co-pilot. This training lasts for around 6 months to an year.
With the unprecedented imploration of the Commercial Pilots by the ever expanding Aviation
Market and settling of new airlines it becomes a necessity to include new and skilled pilots.
