Strategic Goals:

Education
ZSB will produce well-educated graduates who are prepared for careers in
business, and who have demonstrated a mastery of the learning goals outlined for
the BBA, MBA, and MS programs.
ZSB faculty will be devoted to excellence in teaching, and ZSB will encourage
and reward excellence in teaching.
ZSB will continue to implement its learning assurance process to encourage
continuous improvement in curriculum and teaching.
ZSB will maintain a curriculum that is innovative and responsive to the needs of
global business.
ZSB will provide facilities and technology that are necessary to support effective
pedagogy.
ZSB will prepare PhD students for academic and business careers.
Scholarship
ZSB faculty will engage in scholarly research that is valuable to business and
society.
ZSB will foster an environment that supports and rewards research and
scholarship of theoretical, empirical, and applied nature.
ZSB will make available to the faculty the tools necessary to support scholarship,
thereby increasing the visibility and reputation of the school through publication
in prestigious journals, presentation at professional and academic conferences,
and participation in professional organizations.
ZSB will make the Ph.D. Program an integral part of faculty scholarship.
ZSB will support institutes and centers that contribute to faculty research and
community engagement.
Community
ZSB will collaborate with the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences and the
School of Public Affairs to fulfill the mission of Baruch College.
ZSB will create and support a collegial and productive work environment for
faculty, administration, and staff.
ZSB will advance and ensure adherence to the highest ethical standards among all
its stakeholders.
ZSB will involve alumni and the business community in the educational and
scholarly activities of the school.
ZSB will offer conferences, seminars, and executive programs that are responsive
to the needs of the business community.
ZSB will encourage and support organizations and activities that contribute to
student development.

Goal 1: Professional Proficiency:
Students graduating with a degree in business administration will have acquired the
necessary skills and knowledge to meet professional competencies as business
professionals and global citizens.
Students will demonstrate:
An understanding of the history and vocabulary unique to business disciplines.
Knowledge of procedures, concepts, and technical business skills through
practical application (forecasting, budgeting, financial statement analyses,
business plans, strategic planning, and etc.).
The ability to read and interpret financial statements in the decision-making
process.
Effective team work and collaborative skills in a simulated business environment.

Goal 2: Critical Thinking/Problem Solving:
Students graduating with a degree in business administration will demonstrate effective
critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Students will effectively evaluate and resolve business or other contemporary
challenges using appropriate problem solving methodology demonstrating good
decision-making skills and application of knowledge. Students will correctly apply
analytical techniques to analyze and solve quantitative financial, managerial, and
statistical problems and exercises.
Goal 3: Communication Skills:
Students graduating with a degree in business administration will demonstrate
competency in oral and written communication skills.
Writing: Students will create written business and professional documents in
appropriate style and format.
Oral Communication: Students graduating with a degree in business
administration will deliver an effective oral presentation on a business and/or
professional topic.
Goal 4: Information Technology:
Students will demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers and software to manage
information with statistical analysis, spreadsheet, data base, and other appropriate
applications. Students will use appropriate technology to enhance oral presentations
and written assignments in their coursework.
Goal 5: Ethics:
Students graduating with a degree in business administration will demonstrate an
understanding of the legal environment and ethical standards of business and an
awareness of the implications of their behavior and actions as a business
professional. Students will apply an appropriate framework for examining ethical
dilemmas and be able to (1) identify ethical issues and stakeholders, (2) evaluate
alternative course(s) of action, and (3) formulate an appropriate action plan.
