Development and Marketing Manager - North East

c30,000 - 35,000 depending on experience



An opportunity has arisen for an accomplished and enthusiastic individual a
proactive self-starter - with an interest in, and love of, classical music to join
Samling.
Based in one of the most beautiful parts of rural England, Samling is a world-class
charity devoted to the development of young singers and pianists. Its prestigious Masterclass
programme brings some of the worlds greatest classical artists to work with the most talented
professional singers and pianists of the next generation - Samling Scholars. Samling Academy is
setting new standards in classical music for young musicians from or studying in the North East in
partnership with Durham and Newcastle Universities.

We are looking for someone who will thrive on being part of an ambitious team and who has a
passion for music and helping talented people realize their dreams and their full potential.
Someone who
Has the ability to lead and represent the organisation at a high level
Has significant experience of successful fundraising in a management role, and has
created new relationships with funders including Trusts and Foundations,
sponsorship opportunities with business, and building and maintaining relationships
through private giving
Has strong communication skills - both verbal and written - and can write lucidly and
eloquently to contribute to Samlings marketing, PR and advertising
Can co-ordinate and manage projects efficiently with attention to detail, and has
strong organisational and planning skills
Has good numerate and systematic approaches to their work, accurate record
keeping and the ability to work to budgets and realize targets
Above all someone who is passionate about developing new musical talent
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification or equivalent, a
high level of computer literacy, minimum two years work experience and third sector experience,
preferably within an arts environment. Languages would also be useful.
