Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
G
reetings to all from Ecuador! How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in His ways (Psalm 128:1). We are living testimony to this fact in
that the Lord has so abundantly blessed us in all areas of life even though we are
so undeserving! Praise His Holy Name!
We send very special greetings to all those who so faithfully remember the
Ecuadorian ministry in prayer and support it economically. When you shall eat of
the fruit of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you (Psalm 128:2).
In no sense do the humble nd their labors in vain in the Lord. As in husbandry
so in all works undertaken in the fear of God, they shall have such success as shall
show that the blessing of God is on them, v.2. It is a great mercy that Gods people
have something to do in life, and a still greater, when like their Saviour each one can
say: I have gloried thee on the earth; I have nished the work which thou gavest
me to do, John xvii. 4. Tere is indeed a curse resting on the toil which God exacts
of man; but the fear of God goes far towards converting that curse into a blessing.
Countless have been the devices of men to resist the law of labor. Te most success-
ful in this daring enterprise have commonly been the most unhappy.Plumer, p.
1119. Your desire to see the Ecuadorian ministry prosper has not been in vain, and
though many times we get discouraged and show our impatience with the Lords
will, we are comforted with the Lords demand: Terefore, my beloved brethren,
be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that
your toil is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58). that the grace which
is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to
the glory of God, (2 Corinthians 4:15). Your prayers and economic support dear
brethren are reaching farther than you can perceive or imagine. Te Lord really
can take ve loaves and two sh and multiply them in such a way to leave us in
awe. I can imagine how Peter felt that morning when he drew the net to land, full
of large sh, a hundred and fty three; and although there were so many, the net
was not torn John 21:11. Te Lord does prosper His children. But then can you
However things may seem now to an eye
of sense, it is still a certain truth, that
the truly happy man is he who fears Je-
hovah, not in mere profession, but who
testies his fear of him by walking in his
ways or doing his commandments.

imagine the joy of Peter when he nished his rst sermon after Pentecost and as a
result those that received his word were baptized; and there were added that day
about three thousand souls Acts 2:41?!! My cup overows!!
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine, within your house, your children like
olive plants around your table Psalm 128:3
I can truly say that we have been abundantly blessed during these past months.
We had the wonderful opportunity to be with our children over the Christmas and
New Year holidays which is the rst time in about 15 years that we have been all
together at this time of the year. It was two weeks of refreshing fellowship, a time
to relax a little, enjoying the snow!! something we dont have here in Quevedo!
We thank the Lord for such a wonderful time. Truly my cup overows!! Behold,
for thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord Psalm 128:4.
Te Lord has a very special way to bless us so beautifully expressed here in His
Word: Te Lord bless you from Zion, and may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life Psalm 128:5. Te Lord has put upon the heart of His people
to uphold us in prayer and in cheerfully giving. Our blessings have come from
the Lord through His Church and I look forward to seeing the prosperity of the
Church all the days of my life!
Tere has been no other reading, in which I have been so encouraged in spirit
and renewed in hope and in the recovery of a victory-oriented futureview based
on the Bible, like that of pastor Joe Morecraft, III, THE RECORVERY OF HOPE.
I have translated it and am using it as the bases of a series of studies we are now
doing in our church group. I truly believe the church needs to recover hope in the
future.not an escape from realitybut the assurance that the church is destined
to have victory over all its enemies in history.from now until the second com-
ing of Christ. If conditions are bad in the church in the States, they are worse in
Latin America. It is very sad that evangelism in Latin America has been carried out
primarily by churches, groups and missions that have not presented the traditional
reformed faith, so that means that there is a lot of work to be done yet! Tey have
received only half of the truth! Pray earnestly that God would supply these people
with that which Paul petitioned for the Ephesians that the God of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in
the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so
that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory
of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power
towards us who believe Ephesians 1:17-19.
In this critical hour, when the battle is hotter and more intense than ever before,
what is urgently needed in the army of the Lord in America is a Biblically based vic-
tory-orientation toward the future to replace the old, neutralizing defeat-orientation
that has been killing us for so long. Te attitude that the goal of the church is to
struggle for uncertain survival against superior opposition must be laid aside for the
condent hope of victory for Christ and His kingdom over all opposition through
His Church.Joe Morecraft, III, Te Recovery Of Hope, pp. 79-80.

Te vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal, and it will
not fail. Tough it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay
Habakkuk 2:3.
We thank the Lord also for the arrival of Danny and Veronicas son, expected
sometime in the month of June. He will be our sixth grandchild, but the rst one
to carry on the Farr name. We pray the Lords blessings on his life, that the Lord
be pleased to use him greatly. Also our daughter Grace and her husband Andrew
are expecting the arrival of their third, this time a girl, in September of this year,
our seventh grandchild! Praise the Lord! Indeed, may you see your childrens
children. (Psalm 128:6).
Te Lord has given us seven new students thus far this year. And though they
all meet here in Quevedo, none are from Quevedo. Tey all come from towns and
rural areas around Quevedo. One comes as far away as Santo Domingo, a city
one and a half hours drive north of Quevedo. I continue to give classes in Buena
Fe where I have six students who, the Lord willing, will nish their third level of
studies this year. Te group in El Paraiso (Paradise) will also nish their third
level studies this year. I will be starting a new group in El Paraiso sometime in
the fall of this year. I also trust to be able to start some groups with a study of the
Westminster Confession of Faith using G.I. Williamsons book that is translated
into Spanish. I am still translating some of Pastor Morecrafts into Spanish. I think
they are a must! Pray for the blessing of the Lord on this endeavor. Pray the Lord
will also put on the heart of the people the desire to study.
As far as establishing a Seminary we are now very far from any hope of be-
ing able to do so at present. With all the new requirements for universities, many
that have been operating have been forced to close, many others are in a process
of restructuring: of the more than 70 universities that once operated here in the
country only about ve were able to meet the requirements. Under the new laws
there will be no home schooling or studies from a distance; all must be done in
the classroom. FLET uses the distant study method, so.we are still waiting to
see what will be the nal verdict for them. Te government has terminated all of
their universities that use the distant study method.
Continue to pray for the need of a seminary, though right now it seems impos-
sible that we would be able to establish a seminary as such, I still think that it is the
most important ministry needed. Tere are about 200 seminaries in the country,
some aliated with seminaries in other countries, most associated with the dier-
ent church denominations but FLET was the only one that was aliated with the
Board of Education here with permission to issue titles. Whether this status can
continue or not is not known yet.
We especially want to thank each and everyone who makes our ministry here
possible. Continue to pray for the expansion of Christs Kingdom, and the recovery
of hope in the Latin American church. Pray for Ecuador.
Te grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
In the service of our Lord,
William and Mercy Farr
