Sika

Rokkon RB
Non Explosive Demolition Agent

Description Sika

Rokkon RB is a low pollution, non-explosive demolition agent. It uses special

expansive cement that generates expansive stress by reaction with water.

Sika

Rokkon RB generates cracks systematically in rock and concrete and thus

making secondary breaking, if any, easier.
Uses Sika

Rokkon RB is ideally suited for all demolition work but particularly where
the use of explosives will cause damage, pollution, and danger to the
surrounding environment.
Quarrying works, splitting of bouders, splitting of rock before pneumatic breaker /
excavator work.
Demolition of mass concrete / wall / pier

Characteristics /
Advantages
Soundless
Environmentally friendly, no dust, flyrock, gas or debris
Easy to mix with low speed hand mixer / drill and paddle
Less hazardous than use of explosives
High expansive stress
Simple in handling and storage
Technical Data
Typical

Yield Approx. 3.1 litres (after mixing with water, water to powder ratio = 30%)
Application Temperature
(Material, Substrate and
Ambient Temperature)
15C -35C
Do not use Sika Rokkon RB beyond the above application temperature
Hole Diameter Minimum 35-mm
Maximum 50-mm
The larger the hole diameter is, the greater the expansive stress becomes
Hole Depth The hole length varies with the shape of the object to be demolished
When the length is less than 3 times that of the hole diameter, less cracking will
occur, the breaking effect is lessened and the time required for the demolition is
increased

Kind of object Hole depth
Rock/boulder 80% of height
Concrete 90% of height
Hole Spacing Hole Spacing Hole spacing varies with the properties of rock, joint and condition of
the surface, rebars quantity, secondary breaking required etc

Rock Hole Spacing
Hard virgin rock 40-60 cm
Soft virgin rock 50-70 cm
Concrete Hole Spacing
Unreinforced concrete 40-70 cm
Reinforced Concrete
20-35 cm (depending on
quantity of rebars per m3 of concrete)
Mixing Mix 5-kg bag of Sika Rokkon RB uniformly with 1.5 litre of water.
Mix to uniform consistency for approximately 90 seconds 120 seconds.
Use a mechanically powered low speed drill with mixing paddle
Use cool water below 15 C if the ambient temperatu re is higher than 30 C.

Application Pour Sika

Rokkon RB mixture within 10 minutes after mixing into the holes

Spraying the surface with water after cracks initiate tends to expand the width of
cracks and fasten the cracking process

Notes
Once the Sika

Rokkon RBs fluidity is gone it should not be re-mixed with water

as the strength is greatly reduced.
Sika

Rokkon RB must be poured into the hole to its brim.

Sika

Rokkon RB may splatter or blow out of the hole due to the heat
generation. Therefore limits the diameter of the hole to maximum 50-mm and
ensure the temperature of the hole, water, ambient and the product itself is
within specification (maximum 35 C for substate an d produ ct, mixing water is
cool)
Do not leave the unused Sika Rokkon RB in the container, add excessive
quantity of water and then pour onto the ground.
Do not pour and leave Sika Rokkon RB in glass container, cans etc

Curing Cover the filled holes with a plastic cover or het hessian to avoid any incidents
caused by blown-out shots

The time required for the crack formation is normally between 10 24 hours
depending on the temperature, hole diameter and spacing..

Packaging 5-kg bags.

Storage Dry, cool, shaded place
Do not place Sika

Rokkon RB bags directly on the floor.

Shelf Life Sika

Rokkon RB has a minimum shelf life of 9 months.

Handling Precautions Sika

Rokkon RB is high alkaline products, wear Protective Glasses and

Rubber
Gloves during mixing and filling of Sika Rokkon RB
Do not use for other purposes besides the cracking of rocks or concrete.
Rinse with water when any portion of the skin comes into contact with Sika

Rokkon RB.
Do not look directly into holes filled with Sika

Rokkon RB for at least 24 hours

after pouring.
Whenever possible keep filled holes covered for protection.
Ensure the area is suitably isolated prior to commencement of works.
