HEAT TRANSFER
2014 SUMMER SESSION II



DESCRIPTION: This course will cover fundamentals of heat transfer: principles of
conduction, convection, and radiation; applications of heat transfer to
engineering systems; computational modeling and simulation to solve
engineering heat-transfer problems.

PREREQUISITES: C- or better in course 5 or Engineering 6 or Computer Science
Engineering 30; C- or better in Engineering 103 and 105

HOMEWORK: Weekly assigned homework problems and solutions are posted on the
class SmartSite (https://smartsite.ucdavis.edu), in the Homework folder
under Resources. The homework assignments are not graded for credit.

EXAMS/QUIZZES: Closed book, closed notes (except for any handouts provided by the
instructor explicitly for use during the exam/quiz). A calculator may be
used during the exam/quiz, but no cell phones or internet-capable
electronic devices are allowed. Photo identification may be requested.

PROJECTS: Completed assignments must be placed in Box A on the second floor of
Bainer Hall by 4 pm on the due date listed on the schedule below.

Midterm 25% Monday, August 25 (chapters 1-5)
