G
race and peace unto you.

"Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name give glory because of Your
loving kindness, because of Your truth." - Psalm 115:1

We thank and praise God for what He is doing in Canaan. He is moving mightily
in our church. Through prayer and obedience, I want you to know we are
proceeding on God's appointed time. We are meeting the challenges with joyous
hearts and spiritual gratitude. Certainly, our needs are greater than what we can
accomplish on our own, but God is able to provide far more than we can imagine.

As I expressed at a previous Sunday service of an imminent date approaching for
our mortgage closing, that day has come. On July 9, 2014, with members of the
building committee and trustee board, we signed an approved construction
mortgage loan of 1.4 million dollars. To God be the glory!

Saints, today we continue to celebrate God's unwavering grace and mercy. This
event marked a great day in Canaan. As we continue to trust in the Lord, He is
showering his blessings upon us. Unequivocally, with the growing fire and focus in
our commitment to the vision, we are getting closer to fulfilling our building
campaign goals.

Our goal for 100% participation continues to increase as each of you become more
and more involved in this remarkable opportunity to expand our facilities. We
must strive together to share the responsibility and remain confident as this
spiritual journey evolves. Your sacrifice is very pleasing to God and an
encouraging strength to us all. Don't give up now. We've come to far by faith.

Finally, in the weeks ahead, the campaign teams will continue to provide
additional information as it relates to the Arise and Build Capital Campaign. With
God's guidance and blessings, let's continue to fully embrace the vision and work
together in unity. It's this commitment that will have a greater impact in God's
abundant blessings and the life of this great church.

Arise and Build!
Dr. Christopher Alan Bullock, Senior Pastor

Every Sunday when we leave the house of the
Lord, we have a sense of contentment as time
spent in church helps to put our minds and
spirits back in order. Yet, how can we put
ourselves in order if as we enter the church
we dont find things in order? It is through
the Environmental Ministry led by Ms.
Evelynn Butts that we are able to walk into
the glistening halls of Canaan knowing that it is within Canaans walls that we will find order
in our own lives. Ms. Butts ensures that the church remains clean and in order after and
before every service. Working throughout the week she is constantly maintaining Canaan,
keeping it tidy and fit for presentation at all times. Ms. Butts has maintained this ministry
for a number of years now, providing a vital service to Canaan. She serves as a model for all
ministries of Canaan because she has allowed her calling to directly benefit others. For
Colossians 3: 23 says: Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. It
is through her work for the Lord that Ms. Butts benefits us all. In her service she serves as a
model for growing Christians, working for the Lord with gladness in her heart and a smile on
her face. As members of Canaan we ought to show the Environmental ministry our utmost
respect, because it is through this ministry that we are able to get our minds and spirits in
order.

Get in Gear for the New School Year:
Its almost that time of year again. Yes, in a few
weeks school will be back in session. Is your
child ready to succeed? Are you ready to help?
Its a fact: Parents who play an active role in
their childrens education make a huge differ-
ence in their success. Here are some things you
can do to help your child prepare for the up-
coming school year:
Get the children to bed on time. During the summer, children arent al-
ways on a schedule. But, proper rest is essential for a healthy and productive
school year. Help your child get used to the back-to-school routine.
Communicate with teachers and the school. Contact your childs teach-
ers at the start of the school year. Get acquainted with them and let them know
you want to be an active partner in helping your student to learn and grow.
Provide for healthy meals. Hungry kids cant concentrate on learning, so
good nutrition plays an important role in your childs school performance.
Studies show that children who eat healthy, balanced breakfasts and lunches
do better in school.
Take your child to the doctor, and make sure your child has health
insurance coverage. Its a good idea to take your child in for a physical and
an eye exam before school starts. Most schools require up-to-date immuniza-
tions, and you may be asked to provide paperwork showing that your child has
all the necessary shots and vaccines.
Prepare a study area. Set up a special place at
home to do school work and homework. Remove
distractions. Make it clear that education is a top
priority in your family: show interest and praise
your childs work.
