can safely transport a payload with minimum perturbation, whilst also
complying with the clients constraints and specications!

My original problem statement
"y original problem statement was developed by rstly reading through the
relevant chapters in #ngineering $esign % & 'ro(ect )ased Introduction and
then synthesising to my own understanding of what denes a good problem
statement! *ence I read through the 'ro(ect 'atev +pecications ,from
"oodle- whilst making a list of all the constraints upon the design and the
certain criteria that the design must meet! Then using the process of
.uestioning I deconstructed each key idea from the list to produce my
original problem statement ensuring that each aspect was covered without
imposing any further limitations:
$esign and develop a prototype vehicle that has the ability to negotiate all
terrains with minimum perturbation, whilst autonomously delivering a
specied payload and adhering to the clients specications and constraints!
I believe by understanding the necessities of a good problem statement
enabled me to produce a succinct problem statement that includes all facets
of the problem!
Team problem statement refinement process
The team problem statement was developed by successfully coalescing the
best section of each persons individual problem statement to produce a
statement that is clear and concise, but more importantly covers each
aspect of the problem! /irstly everyone was re.uired to share their individual
problem statement, which resulted in .uestions being asked of each ones
statement ensuing further clarication in what they mean by certain aspects
of the statement! 0ext feedback was given to each person on how their
statement was e1ective and where the statement needed improvement!
&fter corroborating each others statements a collective decision was made
to congregate the individual statements into one group statement!
This method was very e1ective in helping each individual develop their ideas
as they now had a clear understanding of what was re.uired for their ideas
to be an e1ective contribution to the group!
What I learned about design and teamwork
1) I think the team will rst have to read through the engineering design
textbook, to gain a greater understanding of the design process and
then we will be able to successfully collaborate with each other in
proceeding to tackle the design problem! Initially we will all be re.uired
to produce some conceptual designs for initial thoughts! &s the group
has already made a list of design specications and constraints,
though has to be put into how the design will be able to meet the
criteria of the pro(ect!
2) I believe my sound knowledge in basic engineering principles is what
will enable me to provide a positive contribution to the designs and
teamwork as I will be able to impart my knowledge to the group,
further increasing their knowledge! &fter studying #ngineering +tudies,
2hemistry and 'hysics in *+2 I believe my knowledge in basic material
properties will be a valuable asset in ensuring that throughout the
design process, we are producing designs that later on will have the
potential to maximise the performance of the product!
