HYMNs OF PRAISE
7:30 a.m. 11:00 a.m.
yield not to temptation my faith looks up to thee
Verse I Verse I
Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin, My faith looks up to Thee,
Each vict’ry will help you, some other to win; Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine;
Fight valiantly onward, evil passions subdue; Now hear me while I pray,
Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. Take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day be wholly Thine.
Chorus
Ask the Savior to help you, Verse II
Comfort, strengthen and keep you, May Thy rich grace impart,
He is willing to aid you, Strength to my fainting heart, my zeal inspire;
He will carry you through. As thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee,
Verse II Pure warm and changeless be, a living fire.
Shun evil companions, bad language disdain,
God’s name hold in rev’rence, nor take it in vain, Verse III
Be thoughtful and earnest, kindhearted and true, While life’s dark maze I tread,
Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. And grief’s around me spread, be Thou my guide;
(Repeat Chorus) Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Verse III Nor let me ever stray, from thee aside.
To him that o’er cometh, God giveth a crown,
Through faith we will conquer, though often cast down, Verse IV
He who is our Savior, our strength will renew, When ends life’s transient dream,
Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. When death’s cold sullen stream,
(Repeat Chorus) Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior then, in love, fear and distrust remove,
O bear me save above, a ransomed soul.

STEWARDSHIP
the results of a Redeemed LifE
for body and spirit

W inston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get; we make

a life by what we give.”
You may have read or heard that statement before. Now, there is
scientific evidence that it is verifiably true. Dr. Abraham Brunk, a re-
searcher and teacher in the Netherlands, has found that givers are both
emotionally and physically better fit than those who are less thoughtful
and generous.
Givers, Dr. Brunk’s study reveals, take 50% fewer sick days than those
whose giving is more restricted. Furthermore, givers have a higher level
of self-esteem and also have lower blood pressure, due to the release of
a hormone called oxytocin in givers’ bodies.
In short, givers have healthier bodies and spirits than those whose
lives are defined by what they do for themselves. “Gimme people” seem
to be hurting both their bodies and their spirits, by acting mostly on
behalf of themselves.
It seems obvious that God made us for giving and serving. Reaching
out to others as members of God’s church will enable us to find the joy
God intends for us to have. Exercising good and steadfast stewardship
of our time, talent and possessions as servants of the Lord not only helps
God’s work and humanity, it also keeps our bodies and spirits healthier
and more joyous.

The Stewardship Ministry
