CHAPTER ONE
Summary
God has promised in His Word that if we hear His voice clearly, including reading the fine print, He will
bless us in an especially powerful way. The word "hear" in the Bible means "do." So if we do what He has
commanded us to do, we will be blessed. The promised blessings include 1) blessing us anywhere, 2) blessing
our efforts, 3) blessing our travel, 4) blessing our coming in and going out, and 5) blessing us by smiting our
enemy. We must realize that we cannot speak anything into existence because it is God who is the blesser.
Self-talk is a great motivational principle, but it is not a biblical one. Self-talk claimed as a biblical principle
steals God's glory because it denies that He is the blesser. There is a thin line between prosperity gospel and
standing on the promises of the true, greatest and only promise-keeper. Again, we are cautioned to read the
fine print in the promise-keeper's contract list of promises. Usually the fine print is proceeded by a little
subjunctive clause that begins with "if." God has promised that if we hearken to (do) His will, He will make
us the head and not the tail, and everywhere we go blessings will overtake us. In other words, if we hearken
diligently to His voice, we will be so blessed that we will bump into blessings as we journey through life.
