What You Don’t See Is What You Get

Pretend that you want to raise carrots, but have

never seen them grow before. You just know
what they look like in the supermarket after
planting the seeds. You water, weed and watch
over your garden to keep away rabbits, but
weeks go by and you don’t see carrots! You’d
probably want to give up.

One day, a friend offers to help harvest your

carrot crop. “Sorry,” you say glumly, “there’s
nothing but some green leaves.” With one tug,
out pops a large carrot! All your work had
produced something, you just didn’t know it.

But God knows what you’re doing. And that
