1 Exercise 2 PIPELINE SHUT-IN AND START-UP
The main goal in this exercise is to conduct well shut-in and start-up
simulations in order to determine the thickness of the insulation layer
needed to keep the fuid temperature above 25 after a 5 hours
shutdown period. The !eld case described in "xercise # with a fow rate
of 5 kg$s will be used as the base case. %dditionally& a wellbore and 2
valves shall be added to the model.
Base model:
'ave the !le ex#-#r#.inp as ex(.inp in the folder ex(. opy the fuid !le
oil)).tab from exercise 2 to ex( and use this fuid !le.
Hints:
Step 1: Update the base model with the information listed below. Add
the two new wellbore pipes as a separate BRANCH named WELLBORE.
Add a new WALL with the formation layer inl!ded "di#ide this layer in
two layers of $.% m thi&ness eah'. (peify a new )erminal NO*E and
han+e the wellhead NO*E to a ,er+e NO*E. (ee -+!re below.
Step 2: Add the .AL.E(.
)he .AL.E( are added at the wellhead "/0/E 12 setion 3' and at the
platform "/0/E 42 setion 1'. )he wellhead #al#e has a diameter of
$.$56 m and the platform #al#e has a diameter of $.7 m.
