UGA BALLET ENSEMBLE COMPNAY CONTRACT

The UGA Ballet Ensemble herby accepts ___________________________________________

(DANCER),
and DANCER hereby agrees to the terms and conditions hereafter set forth.

TERMS Dancers initials provide agreement to the following terms,
_____ The terms of this agreement shall be for 2 semesters Fall 2014 throughout Spring
2015.
During the term of company membership the DANCER shall use his or her best efforts to carry
out all duties assigned by the ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, and enroll for the following DANC credit.
DANC 2850/3850/4850 1-2 credit hour assignment requiring 4-6 hours of rehearsal a week
plus all additional hours required for technical rehearsals, travel and performances.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Dancers initials provide agreement to the following terms.

_____ DANCER agrees to attend all rehearsals scheduled by the ARTISTIC DIRECTOR.
_____ DANCER agrees to attend all additional and/or emergency rehearsals necessitated by
concert or conference deadlines, illness, injury or technical emergency.
_____ DANCER agrees to attend to the understudy of roles as cast to the best of his or her
ability.
_____ DANCER agrees to provide assistance in the rehearsal process in some form, either;
running sound, taking notes, counting music or in stillness, giving notes, providing hand outs,
creating poses, creating phrases of choreography, re-staging set choreography, assisting guest
choreographer or directing rehearsals.
_____ DANCER agrees to maintain the following required supplies: two pairs of ballet shoes,
required make-up, costume undergarments and a minimum of 3-4 pairs of pointe shoes per
year.
______ DANCER agrees to provide some monetary assistance in the form of travel, lodging,
meal expense.
_____ DANCER agrees to supply $40.00 annual company membership fee.
_____ DANCER agrees to supply or locate one (1) donation for the UGABE via the Friends of
Dance 2012-2013.
_____ DANCER agrees to participate in one managerial/administrative duty per semester.
_____ DANCER agrees to provide technical assistance in the form of theatrical strike and set
up.
_____ DANCER shall NOT accept engagements to render any performance service to a third
party during the period of this contract without the specific permission of the ARTISTIC
DIRECTOR.
_____ No DANCER shall opt to perform or choreograph more than two (2) pieces total in YCS
totaling a maximum of two out of both the YCL showings and the Senior Exit Concert.
_____ In such case that the DANCER is injured or unable to fully execute these assigned
duties, the DANCER will aid and assist the company in other facets to receive course credit.
_____ DANCER will receive the grade of WF if contract is terminated mid semester and will
lose all performance privileges with the department for the period of one year beginning on
the initial date of termination.
TERMINIATION
_____ Absence from a photo shoot, technical rehearsal, performance or guest artists
residency rehearsal or otherwise scheduled rehearsal without notice may, at the discretion of
the ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, result in the termination of this contractual agreement.
_____ The Dancer must maintain an acceptable GPA or the terms of this contract are
suspended.
_____ Either party may terminate this contractual agreement with cause by giving not less
than two (2) weeks written notice of date of termination. The DANCER will remain at least
two (2) weeks in rehearsals to aid in the preparation of a replacement.
_____ The ARTISITIC DIRECTOR shall have the right to dismiss the DANCER without the
requirement of notice if, in the ARTISITC DIRECTORS discretion, the DANCER is not utilizing
his or her best efforts in the performance of their duties. In the event of termination, each
party shall be relieved of any further obligations under this contract.
ACCEPTANCE
The offer of company membership by the UGA Ballet Ensemble is open for acceptance by the
DANCER on or before August 27, 2014 at 6pm, and if this agreement is not returned to the
company fully executed within such period, the offer is terminated.
