This is a drama activity for beginning
actors. It encourages pantomime
team!or" letter#sound#!ord
recognition.

The teacher !ill place the students in
a circle.

The teacher !ill give each student a
card !ith one letter printed on it.

The teacher !ill as" each student
to thin" of a !ord that starts !ith
his$her letter.

%ne at a time the teacher !ill call on
a student volunteer and allo! the
student to go to the middle of the
circle and pantomime a !ord that
begins !ith his$her letter.

If a student needs or desires to have a
helper he$she may as" a student in
the circle for assistance.

The main actor &uic"ly !hispers the
!ord to the helper actor.

'hen ready both actors give the
(thumbs up) sign.

*. All audience members put their
arms li"e an open crocodile mouth
and to imitate the scene clapboard
say (one t!o three action) and
clap their hands together. This action
signals the actors to begin.

The actor pantomimes the !ord.




The student actor bo!s !hen finished
acting out the !ord then calls on
audience members to guess the !ord.

%nly three guesses are allo!ed then
the student actor must tell the !ord if
it has not been guessed.

The teacher chooses another student
actor.

The teacher !ill guide and direct
students !ho need help or
encouragement.

The teacher !ill evaluate the
performance of the students by
observation during the activity.

The teacher !ill lead a discussion and
allo! student feedbac" as the
students reflect on the activity.
