Sai-Jutsu is one of the traditional Japanese martial arts. This special martial art
has its origin on the Ryu Kyu islands of Okinawa.
In this book, the beginner will find a systematic introduction into the basics of
Sai-Jutsu fighting techniques. The advanced student will get important insights
into training instructions and will learn detailed patterns of traditional forms,
the Kata, which are not well-known. Some of the most important correlations
of historical development are discussed. Several famous Okinawan Masters
are introduced in this book.
The contents of Kobudo Sai-Jutsu are based on the experience which the author
gained during numerous studies in Japan and on the island of Okinawa.
Therefore authentic Kobudo is presented in this book, originating from the
roots of real Japanese martial arts.
Helmut Kogel learned a modern system of Karate fighting combinations with
a western point of view in the beginning of training. Lateron Kogel began with
Shotokan Karate and became a student of A. Nagai, W. Vovcak and P. Brger.
He trained under H. Kanazawa, H. Nishiyama, Ikio Higushi, Kazuo Sakai and
H. Shirai. He also learned Philippine Arnis, Kobudo and Nihon Jujutsu.
During several studies in Japan, especially in the Dojo of Tetsuhiro Hokama
in Okinawa, he became experienced in several martial arts. Under the
guidance of Japanese grandmasters he achieved the degree of 5th Dan in
Karate Renshi, 5th Dan in Kobudo and 2nd Dan in Nihon Jujutsu.
