BREAKOUT

AIM:-

To construct an autonomous bot that is capable of following a white line and
do the tasks assigned in the gameplay.
To construct a manual robot as per your requirements in the gameplay given
below.

Manual bot specification:-

Only 1 manual bot per team is allowed.
The bot must fit into a box of dimension 300mm X 300mm X 300mm (l X b X
h).
The bot must be stable, and there should be no separate part of the bot
splitting up out of it.

Manual bot should be controlled by a remote. The external remote control
used to control the bot does not come in the size constraint of the bot.
Manual bot can have on-board or off-board power supply, a 220 Volt AC
power supply plug will be provided by the organizers. However the teams are
required to bring their own adapters or batteries with them. The maximum
allowed voltage is 24V.
Manual bot cannot be constructed using readymade Lego kits or any
readymade mechanism. But you can make use of readymade gear assemblies.
Teams found to be violating this clause will be disqualified.

Autonomous bot specifications: -

Only one autonomous line following bot per team is allowed.
The autonomous bot must fit in a box of dimensions
250mmx250mmx250mm (lxbxh).
The power supply to the autonomous bot must be on-board.
Bot must start individually by only one on-board switch. However a team
may have a separate on-board switch for restart. This switch will have to
be shown before the run to the organisers.

The autonomous bot must be stable, and during the run can expand
itself provided it does not damage the arena in anyway. However it is
not allowed to leave anything behind or make any marks on the arena
during the run.
The autonomous bot should not separate or split into two or more units.
All bots/units which are touching each other at the starting zone will be
considered as one bot.
The teams are allowed to use ready-made micro-controller
boards/ready-made sensor kits. However the teams are not allowed to
use ready-made Lego kits or any such assemblies.
The starting procedure of the bot should be simple and should not
involve giving bot any manual force or impulse in any direction.

Prisoner Bot Specifications (autonomous bot 1):-

It will be of maximum dimension of 180 mm x 180 mm x 100 mm (l x b x h).
It will be having self-start, as soon as the Gate No. 2 opens, it will start moving
in forward direction until or unless there is an obstruction in its path i.e. stops
as soon as it detects an object in front of itself.
It will be using a proximity sensor.

Gameplay:-

The task involves two bots-one manual and one autonomous.
Both the manual and the autonomous bot should start from their specified
areas/sector (sector A1-cell for autonomous and sector A2-cell for manual
bot). As the timer starts, the manual bots starts from zone A2 and has to press
switch 1 to open main gate (Gate No. 1) of the prison for autonomous bot, and
then has to press switch 2 for opening the prison cell (Gate No. 2). From where
the Prisoner bot (autonomous bot 1) will climb on the agent (autonomous
bot). Then agent has to carry the Prisoner bot by following the white line.

After moving a certain distance it comes across bridge B1, which has gap in
between. The manual bot fills the gap by sliding in the part P1 of the bridge
back to its original position.

As soon as the autonomous bot crosses the bridge it come across a pair of
lasers which has to be switched off before the autonomous bot crosses it, by
the manual bot by putting the yellow coloured block KL on the fixed yellow
coloured platform.
The autonomous bot moves further to reach a junction where it has two paths,
path 1(shorter distant from the end point) and path 2(slightly lengthy).
Along path 1 the autonomous bot has to descend 30 mm and then climb a wall
of height 60 mm and continue following the white line to exit the prison
directly and reach sector C i.e. the end point for autonomous bot.
Along path 2 after moving certain distance the autonomous bot come across a
gate (Gate No. 3), that can be opened when the manual bot puts the right
combination of keys K1, K2, K3 into the right slots according to their colour.
After passing through the gate the autonomous bot can reach its destination
i.e. sector C after moving further ahead following the line and crossing another
bridge ( B2 ).
The timer will stop as soon as the manual bot as well as the autonomous bot
reaches sector C.

Lay rules:-

The key block K1, K2, K3 will be kept randomly in the manual key zone i.e.
sector B.
The manual bot at no point of the game can cross the white line (autonomous
bots track).
All the required dimensions of various parts of the arena are given in the
Sketch up.

Restart Rules:-

The manual bot has to start from the beginning i.e. sector A2, in case of
restart, whenever needed.
The restart point for the autonomous bot will be the cross line just before the
laser, in case a restart is needed before reaching that point, the autonomous
bot has to start from the main gate( before Gate No. 1)

ARENA

General specifications:-

The potential difference between any two points on any of the bots must not
exceed 24 V DC.
The autonomous bot should not receive any input from outside the arena.
The manual bot should receive signal only from single remote control.

No wireless communication between autonomous bot and manual bot is
allowed. The team is responsible for proving this to the organizers. In case of
any wireless communication the team will be disqualified.
Any bot found damaging the arena will be immediately disqualified.
The final decisions are at the discretion of the organizers.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:-
1) The bot is not allowed to leave anything behind during the run. It should
not leave any mark on the arena. Any bot found damaging the arena will
be immediately disqualified.

2) The time measured by the organisers will be final and will be used for
scoring the teams. Time measured by the contestant by any means will
not be considered for scoring.
3) In case of any disputes/discrepancies, the organisers decision will be
final and binding. The organisers reserve the right to any of the above
rules as they deem fit. Changes in rules, if any will be highlighted on the
website and notified to the teams.

Team specification:-

1) A team may have a maximum of 4 members.
2) Participants from different educational institutions may also form a
team.
3) A team can register as two separate teams if they are using two different
bots for the event

Ranking Criteria:

For teams completing the task, the ranking will be done on the basis of
time. Lesser the time higher the ranking.
For teams which are unable to complete the given task ranking will be done
on the basis of level of completion of task.
