My Noisy Brother

My brothers such a noisy kid,
when he eats soup he slurps.
When he drinks milk he gargles.
And after meals he burps.
He cracks his knuckles when hes bored.
He whistles when he walks.
He snaps his fingers when he sings,
and when hes mad he squawks.
At night my brother snores so loud
it sounds just like a riot.
Even when he sleeps
my noisy brother isnt quiet.










JUSTIFICATION FOR POEM
TITLE OF POEM: MY NOISY BROTHER
My Noisy Brother is a simple poem that tells the students about narrators brother
who is very noisy and naughty. It is a light and relaxing poem to be taught for Year 2
students. This is because, the term of brother itself is related to the students life which is
the world of knowledge. Basically, this poem is catchy and enjoying as it tells a story about a
brother who loves to make noise. Hence, through this narrative poem, students will be more
attracted to and curious to know more about the narrators brother. It is suitable to be taught
for children who have intermediate language level of proficiency. This is due to simple
sentence structure used in the poem itself. Every line has a short sentence which is easy for
the teacher to explain the meaning of the context.
The vocabulary used in the poem also easy to be understood and comprehensible.
Therefore, students would not have any serious problem in understanding the storyline or the
vocabulary too. Besides, this poem is much enriched with new vocabularies which
emphasizing on usage of verbs among the students. For example, new verbs that they may
learn are like slurp, gargle, burp and others too. These new vocabularies are actually
additional information to the common verbs that they have learnt before which are like eat,
drink and sleep. The structure of the sentences also could teach the students on how to use
singular and plural verb correctly. Moreover, it is also suitable for both genders since they
can talk and imagine about their brothers as well.
According to pedagogical principle of English Language of Curriculum for Primary
Schools (KSSR), this poem is suitable for teaching and learning session as it is back to
basics. For instance, My Noisy Brother emphasizes on grammatical matter which is the
singular and plural. The knowledge of suffixes of -s and -es could be introduced so that
students could be exposed to the right application of grammar in sentences. In addition, the
learning would be more fun, meaningful and purposeful when the children know the meaning
of every word that they recite. This purpose could be achieved as the children demonstrate
every verb that they recite and learn the meaning through actions. When they demonstrate
the verbs, they will remember better.



On the order hand, the learning also could be students centered as students will
perform the poem in role play. Some students will act like the brother and some would be the
narrator. While they get involve with the role play, children will get further understanding
about the story line. Meanwhile, as for the assessment, teacher can check students
understanding by asking them to match the pictures of verbs with the right words of verbs
listed. This would test their understanding whether they really catch on those words or not.

JUSTIFICATION FOR SONG
TITLE OF POEM: DO IT RIGHT
ORIGINAL SONG FROM THE BARNEY I LOVE YOU
The song of Do It Right is adapted from the original nursery rhyme entitled I Love
You. This song is actually sound track for Barney and Friends television show one time ago.
I chose to use this tune as the song is easy to catch on and enjoying for children level.
Moreover, I am quite sure that students are at least heard this song once as it is a famous
and meaningful song. By using this song, I decided to change the lyrics to another topic
which is Do The Right Thing. It is suitable to teach for Year 2 students as the topic is
included in their syllabus.
By implementing samples of instruction into a song, students will learn and memorize
the meaning better. Instructions such as please queue up, walk in pairs, wash your hands
and do not push are examples that could be taught through the song. Those instructions are
actually related to the students life in school and at home too. Students will remember better
the meaning of the rules as they keep repeat the line of instruction for times in a paragraph.
Moreover, this song also would teach the students to be more discipline and tell them what
they should do and what they should not do. The structure of the sentences is very simple
and easy to be understood. Basically, the lyrics are emphasized on the verb aspect such as
queue up, walk, wash and push. For Year 2 students, it will enrich their vocabulary as those
words are commonly used in daily life. From the other aspect, this song is suited for both
genders whether boys or girls.
According to pedagogical principle of Curriculum for Primary Schools (KSSR), this
song is essential in developing language skills which are listening and speaking skills. These
skills could be introduced when the children respond to the pictures of family members that
teacher will show in front. Moreover, as they recite the lyrics and sing the song all together,
they are actually sharpening their speaking skills. This could be done when the teacher says
the correct way of pronunciation from the selected words or texts and followed by the
students in the classroom. On the order hand, the learning would be fun and enjoying as
students will sing the song entitled Do It Right. Students will easily catch up the song as the
melody of the song is familiar and downbeat and the lyrics are pronounced one by one.
Students also will find the lyrics interesting as some of the lines are keep repeating in a
paragraph.

Besides, the learning would be more meaningful and learner-centered as the students
act the rules and instruction in the class based on teacher guidance. In addition, teacher
could check students understanding whether the students achieve the objective of the
lesson or not when they sing and do the action in groups. This point shows that this lesson
applies on formative assessment which is ongoing assessment. Last but not least, teacher
could infuse the value of discipline among the students in and out of the school.
