Story of a Young Man

Once upon a time, there was a young boy who was so poor he could only afford to eat
vegetables and had to walk 5 kms to school everyday. Walking along the road, because there
were no sidewalks, the child saw the flashy cars that zoomed by him. He decided that one day,
he too will have a car.

So he worked very hard in school, became a successful
businessman, had a big house, a fleet of cars, a team of
drivers, ate fast, fancy and fat food, and became corpulent.
In other words, and lived the life of a rich man.

Doctors Orders?
One day while in the middle of an intense
multi-million dollar deal, he collapsed. After
the Emergency Room and the ICU, he was
diagnosed to have clogged arteries,
hypertension, congested lungs, diabetes, high
cholesterol and uric acid, and a host of the
other lifestyle ailments of the rich. In other
words, he was in a full-blown health crisis.

When he finally met the doctor, the first
order in the prescription of his doctor was .
guess what?

DIET portions and mainly of
vegetables, and walk five kilometers a day.

From then on, the patient became
healthier and happier.

What is the point of the story? The points
you will see as the story unfolds.

Sec. 9. Task Group on Fossil Fuels.

a. The DOTC shall lead to transform
the transportation sector. The new
paradigm in the movement of men and
things must follow a simple principle:
Those who have less in wheels must
have more in roads. For this purpose,
the system shall favor non-motorized
locomotion and collective transportation
systems (walking, bicycling, and the
man-powered mini-train).
b. The DOTC and the DPWH shall
immediately transform roads using
aforesaid principle.
c. C. The DILG shall coordinate with all
LGUs to transform the road system
to favor persons who have no motor
vehicles.

GAME Changer:
Thats obvious
The difference between the obscure and
the obvious; The obscure is figured out sooner
or later. It is the obvious that takes a lot longer.

Points and Relevance of the Story
1. We are promoting aspirations of a lifestyle that is wasteful, unsustainable,
and totally unhealthy lifestyle of the rich and wrong.
Wrong MODEL of progress and development (only to end up in the ICU)

2. CRISIS IS OPPORTUNITY
We are now faced with a full blown health, productivity, environmental and
climate crisis. WE cannot solve a problem using the same mindset that created
it in the first place. Turn the idea on its head, 180 degrees and unleash our
native genius under a different mindset

3. ROAD DIET (CANNOT INCREASE PRICE OF OIL AND MOTOR VEHICLES)
Transportation that is wasteful in the use of public space needs to be
curtailed: Unfair and unequal protection of the laws., Discrimination, etc.
THOSE WHO disagree, and we can explain it better to them if we discuss it in
court
