Barrett Shupe spoke to Cushing Rotary Club in advance of his

fourth season as head football coach at Cushing High School.

Sports

He said the football program appreciated those

who made it possible.
He mentioned construction around the high
school campus. Cushing
now has a locker room big
enough for the Tigers and
visiting teams. Visitors
in the past had no locker
room space; now they will
use what previously was
the Tiger facilities.
Shupe said it was time
for these improvements
and appreciated the community for stepping up
and making it possible.
He said he loves all
sports, bur particularly
likes football because its
about community.
Football is a sport everyone in the community
can rally around, Shupe
said.
When asked about the
schedule and who the
non-district opponents
the first three games of
the season would be,
Shupe said when he first
got here, they could play
anyone they wanted in
non-district play.

Now, were having to

go west because the teams
weve historically played
wont play us anymore,
he said.
Some of the non-district teams are tougher
but were ready and excited about it.
Shupe is beginning his
fourth season at CHS. The
Tigers have appeared in
the playoffs each year he
has been head coach.
He said many players
would be playing both offense and defense.
Thats necessary to win
games, Shupe said. The
more one-way players we
have, due to attracting
more and better players,
the
better
well be.
Cushing
has its first
full-scale
scrimmage
Friday
at
Jones
and
kicks off the
2014 regular
season Sept.

Bristow.

Keystone Foodservice in accord with Agra schools

AGRA Students at Agra
Public Schools found their
way back to campus on
Thursday. They did so with
an interesting look at lunch.
A variety of fresh, healthy
meals will be on the menu at
Agra for the 2014-15 school
year, thanks to the newly
announced partnership between the school district and
Keystone Foodservice.
Keystone Foodservice focuses on providing freshly
prepared
breakfast
and
lunch options for the students it serves.
The company, which will
serve about 18,000 students
at more than 30 schools daily during the 2014-15 school
year, was recently selected as
the cafeteria vendor for Agra
Public Schools.
This is an exciting announcement for our students, faculty and staff here
at Agra Public Schools, Jay
Thomas, superintendent.
The meals prepared by
Keystone prepares are fresh
and based on the tastes of
the students. Their burgers
and chicken are seasoned by
hand and cooked on a grill.
We expect our students
are going to really look forward to eating the meals
provided by Keystone Foodservice.
Agra is the latest in a growing line of Cimarron Valley
schools making accord with
Keystone. Cushing in 201314 followed Coyle and other
area schools in employing
Keystone Foodservice. Yale
last week announced it had
reached a similar agreement.
The company began at fraternity and sorority houses
on college campuses in Norman and Stillwater.
Keystone on Thursday began serving breakfast and
lunch to the students at
Agra Public Schools. Lunch
includes a full salad bar,
stocked daily with fresh fruits
and vegetables. Free and reduced prices are available for
students who qualify.
Our goal is to provide
healthy meals that kids
will actually eat, said Josh
Sanders, CEO for Keystone
Foodservice. We do that by
listening to the kids and by
continually introducing new
foods. When it comes to a
healthy diet, kids and adults
have this in common: variety
is key.
Keystones menu offerings include homemade
chicken enchiladas, honeybaked ham and chargrilled
hamburgers made from lean
ground beef. Main courses
are accompanied by offerings
including freshly steamed
vegetables and hand-cut
sweet potato fries.
Study after study has
shown that kids who eat a
balanced diet perform better in school, so we take the

work we do seriously, Sanders said. We want the kids

to leave the cafeteria full and
ready to focus on the day.
Our meals dont just taste
good theyre designed to
serve as fuel for kids in the
classroom.
Sanders said Oklahoma
has some great school administrators who truly want
to do whats best for their
students, and they are willing to think outside the box

when it comes to nutrition.

We are proud to partner
with Agra Public Schools,
and we are grateful to the
school board and the administration for their willingness to try something new to
benefit the kids they serve.
We are already getting great
feedback about the food we
are serving here, and we are
looking forward to always
cooking up something great
for these kids.

Ace ...
continued from page 4
He said he has yet to
shoot his age or better
but carded 85 at Drumright Golf Course
during the round in
question.
It was his second ace
on the par-3 seventh
and his third total on
the nine-hole Drumright layout.
Its about 160 yards
all carry, Rosebrough
said. Its straight uphill.
He said neither he
nor Slane could see
the ball go into the

cup because of the

holes uphill design.
Once they reached the
green, they saw the
ball wedged between
the cup and the flagstick.
I just play for the
exercise and the fellowship, Rosebrough
said. Ive not shot my
age yet but Ive come
close a few times.
Rosebrough said he
does not have an established
handicap.
The last time I had
one I was a nine back
in the 80s, he said.
I dont play tournaments or anything like
that.

Simpson ...
continued from page 4
Simpson won his first
Greco-Roman
match
and rattled off four consecutive victories in the
losers bracket to earn
a spot in the top eight,
which assures All-America status.
He won seven consecutive matches in freesytle after losing in the
opening round to eventual runner-up James
Holmes of Arizona.
Simpson had five consecutive technical falls
during losers bracket action.
