Grant Assistant for Autism Speaks Grant Project Spring 2013-Fall 2013 The grant, written and executed by UNI Professor Gretta Berghammer, was designed to integrate drama- based activities into spectrum specific classrooms around the Cedar Valley. Job included: Working with atypical students ranging from pre-k to 5 th grade. Assisting with 3 lessons per week by preparing costumes and supplies for lessons, compiling data on the ABA teaching strategies, and detailing student progress in social and behavioral development. Student Teacher at Kaleidoscope Youth Series Spring 2013-Spring 2014 Kaleidoscope Youth Series is part of the Ghallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Centers programming for young audiences ages k-5. As a member of the Education Team, my responsibilities included: Devising ideas, lesson plans, and drama activities relevant to each shows themes, ideas, and lessons. Lead and Co-Teach pre and post lessons at surrounding schools to both prepare and review their theatrical experience, learning goals, and acting skills connected to the production they had seen. Student Assistant at Spectrum Youth Theatre Fall 2012-Present Spectrum Theatre is a series of individual workshops designed to enhance the social and behavioral skills of students on the autism spectrum. My various roles have included: Working one-on-one with individual students during lessons. Engaging students in creative drama activities of: role play, story drama, movement, pantomime, and sensory awareness.
Devising Team Member: Playful Inventions Fall 2012-Spring 2013 Playful Inventions is a theatre for youth piece devised and conceived by 13 UNI students and staff. By including profile markers of students on the autism spectrum, the show was devised to be sensory friendly with many moments of audience participation and play.
