so doing, free us from the terror their doctrine inspires" author Craig Winn

IN SAUDI ARABIA, FOLLOWING A TRADITION OF MUHAMMAD WHO SAID, "TWO
RELIGIONS CANNOT EXIST IN THE COUNTRY OF ARABIA," NON-MUSLIMS ARE
FORBIDDEN TO PRACTICE THEIR RELIGION, BUILD CHURCHES, POSSESS BIBLES,
ETC.
2
Rev. 1
A MUSLIM DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE HIS RELIGION. APOSTASY IS
PUNISHABLE BY DEATH.

Freedom of thought in various forms and guises is discouraged; any innovation is
likely to be branded "blasphemy," which is punishable by death. The notion of an
individuala moral person who is capable of making rational decisions and
accepting moral responsibility for his free actsis lacking in Islam. Ethics is
reduced to obeying orders. Under Islam, God and the Holy law set limits on the
possible agenda of your life. In Islam there are no "human rights" or "freedoms"
admissible to man in the sense in which modern man's thought, belief and practice
understand them. The Western liberal emphasis upon freedom from restraint is
alien to Islam. Human rights exist only in relation to human obligations. Those
individuals who do not accept these obligations have no rights.

Islam devotes a great amount of energy to the kafir or infidel (non believers). Not
only is the majority (64%) of the Koran devoted to the kafir, but also nearly all of the
Sira (81%) deals with Mohammeds struggle with them. The Hadith (Traditions)
devotes 32% of the text to kafirs.

All non-Muslims who accepted Muslim supremacy and agreed to pay a tribute in
return for "Muslim protection" are referred to as dhimmis. The jizya was a poll-tax
that, in accordance with the Koran 9.29 ("until they pay the jizya from their hand,
being brought low"), had to be paid individually at a humiliating public ceremony to
remind the dhimmis that they were inferior to the believers, that is, the Muslims.
The Muslim commentator on the Koran, al-Zamakhshari (1075-1144), interpreted
sura 9.29 to mean "the jizya shall be taken from them with belittlement and
humiliation. [The dhimmi] shall come in person, walking not riding. When he pays,
he shall stand, while the tax collector sits. The collector shall seize him by the scruff
of the neck, shake him, and say: 'Pay the jizya!' and when he pays it he shall be
slapped on the nape of his neck." Various Koranic verses such as 3.28 were used to
bar dhimmis from public office. In all litigation between a Muslim and a dhimmi, the
3
Rev. 1
validity of the oath or testimony of the dhimmi was not recognized. In other words,
since a dhimmi was not allowed to give evidence against a Muslim, his Muslim
opponent always got off scot-free. No Muslim could be executed for having
committed any crime against a dhimmi. A Muslim might marry a dhimmi wife but
not vice versa, for this would put a believing woman into the power of an
unbeliever; for the same reason, a Muslim could own a dhimmi slave but not a
dhimmi a Muslim one.

The Koran remains for all Muslims, not just "fundamentalists," the uncreated word
of God Himself. It is valid for all times and places; its ideas are absolutely true and
beyond all criticism. To question it is to question the very word of God, and hence
blasphemous. A Muslim's duty is to believe it and obey its divine commands.

Koran abounds in contradictions. Certain passages of the Koran are abrogated by
verses with a different or contrary meaning revealed afterwards. sura 2.105:
"Whatever verses we [i.e., God] cancel or cause you to forget, we bring a better or its
like." Since all the passages preaching tolerance are found in Meccan, i.e., early
suras, and all the passages recommending killing, decapitating, and maiming are
Medinan, i.e., later: "tolerance" has been abrogated by "intolerance." For example,
the famous verse at sura 9.5, "Slay the idolaters wherever you find them," is said to
have canceled 124 verses that dictate toleration and patience.

The totalitarian nature of Islam is nowhere more apparent than in the concept of
jihad, the holy war, whose ultimate aim is to conquer the entire world and submit it
to the one true faith, to the law of Allah. To Islam alone has been granted the truth:
there is no possibility of salvation outside it. It is the sacred dutyan incumbent
religious duty established in the Koran and the traditionsof all Muslims to bring
Islam to all humanity. Jihad is a divine institution, enjoined specially for the purpose
of advancing Islam. Muslims must strive, fight, and kill in the name of God.
The following are just a sample of a few verses from Koran regarding infidels:
4
Rev. 1
3.28. Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends, guardians, and
councilors in preference to the believers.
9.5 "When opportunity arises, kill the infidels (non believers of Islam) wherever you
catch them."
9.5-6: " Kill those who join other gods with God wherever you may find them."
4.76: "Those who believe fight in the cause of God."
8.12: "I will instill terror into the hearts of the Infidels, strike off their heads then,
and strike off from them every fingertip,"
8.39-42: "Say to the Infidels: If they desist from their unbelief, what is now past shall
be forgiven them; but if they return to it, they have already before them the doom of
the ancients! Fight then against them till strife be at an end, and the religion be all of
it God's."
2.256: "But they who believe, and who fly their country, and fight in the cause of God
may hope for God's mercy: and God is Gracious, Merciful."
It is a grave sin for a Muslim to shirk the battle against the unbelievers those who
do will roast in hell.
8.15, 16: "Believers, when you meet the unbelievers preparing for battle do not turn
your backs to them. [Anyone who does] shall incur the wrath of God and hell shall be
his home: an evil dwelling indeed."
9.39: "If you do not fight, He will punish you severely, and put others in your place."
Those who die fighting for the only true religion, Islam, will be amply rewarded in
the life to come.
4.74: "Let those fight in the cause of God who barter the life of this world for that
which is to come; for whoever fights on God's path, whether he is killed or triumphs,
5
Rev. 1
We will give him a handsome reward."

It is abundantly clear from many of the above verses that the Koran is not talking of
metaphorical battles or of moral crusades: it is talking of the battlefield.

Mankind is divided into two groups, Muslims and non-Muslims. The Muslims are
members of the Islamic community, the umma, who possess territories in the Dar al-
Islam, the Land of Islam, where the edicts of Islam are fully promulgated. The non-
Muslims are the Harbi, people of the Dar al-Harb, the Land of Warfare, any country
belonging to the infidels that has not been subdued by Islam but that, nonetheless, is
destined to pass into Islamic jurisdiction, either by conversion or by war (Harb). All
acts of war are permitted in the Dar al-Harb.

People generally convert to Islam only "in terror or in quest of power, or to avoid
heavy taxation, or to escape humiliation, or if taken prisoner, or because of
infatuation with a Muslim woman." A rich non-Muslim well-versed in his own faith
and that of Islam will not convert except for some of the preceeding reasons.
