Registration for Summer School Begins May 10
th


The Toronto Catholic District School Board is offering new credit courses, upgrading
courses and transfer courses for secondary school students this summer. Registration
begins May 10
th
for all programs, and closes J une 29
th
. Qualified grade 8 students who
wish to earn a grade 9 credit may apply up until J une 18
th
.

All courses run from Monday, J uly 5 to Friday, J uly 30, 2010, with final exam date on
Wednesday, July 28
th
.

New credit courses enable students to obtain one full credit toward their diploma in a
subject that was not previously taken. Students may register for a maximum of two new
credit courses (one eClass and one in-class course).

Upgrading courses enable students to obtain one full credit by repeating 60 hours of
instruction in a course in which they were unsuccessful during the regular school year.
Students wishing to improve a passing mark may also enrol. Students taking grade 9-11
courses must have a minimum mark of 35% to enrol in an upgrading course. Grade 12
students require a minimum mark of 45% in order to upgrade a 4U/4M course. Students
may register for a maximum of two upgrading credit courses (one a.m. and one p.m.).

Transfer or partial credit courses allow students to transition from applied to academic
level courses. Transfer courses are available for students in grade 9-11.

TCDSB students must register through their day school guidance department from
Monday, May 10, 2010 until Tuesday, J une 29, 2010. Non-TCDSB students must register
online through the boards website beginning on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at
http://www.tcdsb.org/continuinged/waitlist.htm

Adult learners experiencing technical difficulties with the online application may
register in person on Wednesday, J une 16 anytime between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00
p.m. at the Continuing Education Department, 80 Sheppard Ave. East, North York.

In addition to in-class summer school courses, the TCDSB also offers online credits.
Students may register for 2 new credit courses OR 2 half credit courses through eClass.
